Bruno Foster could be forgiven if he's getting frustrated with Santiego Nadal. Nadal is to Foster's immediate right, yet somehow continues to collect chips from Foster. Foster opened a pot to 40,000 from under the gun, then was faced with Nadal's re-raise to 116,000 out of the big blind after everyone else passed. Foster paused for 30 seconds while he stole a few quick glances at Nadal. Then he calmly announced a call, leaving himself 425,000.
The flop came down . Nadal cut 127,000 off of his newly replenished stack and tossed it into the pot. Foster thought briefly but decided not to continue.
Gerardo Godinez raised from the cutoff seat and Marcelo Fonseca called from the button. Henrique Bernardes also called from the big blind and the flop came down . Bernardes checked and Godinez bet what looked to be about 40,000 from our vantage point. Fonseca made the call and Bernardes folded.
The turn brought the and both players checked. The river was also checked after the fell. Fonseca tabled the to win the pot with a pair of aces.
Santiego Nadal has been quiet throughout the first two levels. He finally found a spot he liked when he moved all in for 295,000 after Joao Bauer had opened for 37,000. Bruno Foster, sitting in the small blind, asked the dealer for a count on Nadal. Then he eyed Bauer's stack and announced he was all in for about 850,000. Bauer quickly folded.
Neither Nadal nor Foster were inclined to open their cards first, but after some prompting from a floor supervisor they simultaneously flipped the cards face up.

Nadal gave a short fist pump when the was first off the deck, followed by and . Foster asked for spades and got the first needed spade on the turn, . That card gave him plenty of winning cards at the river, but the allowed Nadal to stick around. He is now up to 655,000 in chips while Foster has fallen to 550,000.
On one of the last hands before the break, Raphael Martins and Joao Bauer took a blind-on-blind battle to showdown. Bauer again took the worst of it. Both players checked a flop. On the turn , Martins checked a second time before calling a bet of 30,000 from Bauer. Martins then opted to lead the river for 75,000. Bauer made a quick call but had to pay off the bet. He couldn't beat the that Martins turned over, a 7-high straight.
With new-found life but still critically short of chips, Jose Carlos Rodrigues moved all in for 27,000 from under the gun. Walter Oaquim shoved behind him for 220,000, bringing the action to Marcio Motta. Motta tanked for two minutes, engaging Oaquim in some laughing banter that we couldn't understand, before folding his hand. The blinds also folded, taking Rodrigues and Oaquim to showdown.
Rodrigues:
Oaquim:
Both players flopped an ace, but two baby cards left Rodrigues with kicker problems, . He shouted "Nueve!" once before the turn and a second time before the river. Neither was the requested card. Rodrigues has reported to the rail in 19th place.
Joao Bauer is giving out double-ups at Table 1. The latest beneficiary was Caio Brites, who got about 200,000 chips into the middle pre-flop with . Bauer made the call out of the big blind with , then flopped a gutshot straight draw, . That draw never filled, and , as Brites found some breathing room.
A strange day for Jose Carlos Rodrigues got a little stranger a few moments ago. The standard part came first, as he open-shoved his small blind for 131,000 with and was called by Eduardo Costa in the big blind with . Rodrigues couldn't catch, failing to improve on a board of .
The countdown of both players' stacks revealed that Rodrigues had Costa covered by 7,000. Those chips went into the pot on the next hand after Fabio Colonese opened for 29,000. Big blind Walter Oaquim also called. Oaquim and Colonese checked the flop. Oaquim fired for 34,000 on the turn, inducing Colonese to fold face up. Oaquim collected the 50,000-chip side pot, then showed an unimproved . Improbably, Rodrigues tabled , a hand that had been behind Colonese for the main pot. Colonese was disgusted as the river came to give Rodrigues the main pot.
