Berrio & Jose Spotted at Table 25

Table 25 doesn't have easy access for us bloggers as it is surrounded by lights and cameras; however, we were able to see a couple notables seated there. In Seat 1 was Colombian native Santiago Berrio, while seated to his direct left in Seat 2 is Costa Rican Juan Jose. The latter player is faring a little better at this point, having his counterpart out chipped 35,000 to 19,000.

C-Bet Doesn't Work for Uribe

Mayu Roca Uribe
Mayu Roca Uribe

Mayu Roca Uribe raised to 1,300 from early position and received calls from the button and big blind. When the flop came down {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{A-Clubs}, the big blind checked and Uribe continuation bet 2,000. The button casually tossed in a call while the big blind got out of the way.

Uribe must have smelled something fishy as he check-folded to a bet of 2,900 on the {J-Hearts} flop. Uribe is sitting comfortable with 47,000.

Ospina Still Contending

Three players created a preflop pot worth about 5,000 hand proceeded to check the {8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop. When the dealer burned and turned the {9-Diamonds}, action checked to Daniel Ospina and he put out a 3,000 bet. Both his opponents folded, and Ospina took down the small pot.

The Player of the Year contender needs all the help he can get as he's sitting with a stack of about 18,000.

Brenes Busts Watanabe

Carlos Watanabe, the fourth-place finisher at LAPT Punta del Este, has been eliminated.

Humberto Brenes opened to 1,700 in the hijack and Watanabe called, leaving himself 400 behind. When the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, Watanabe put in the rest of his stack. Brenes called with {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and looked to hit against Watanabe's {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The {J-Diamonds} turn locked it up for Brenes, ending Watanabe's tournament.

Pocket Rockets for Torres

Freddy Torres
Freddy Torres

We're not sure of all the action, but with about 7,000 in the pot, a player in middle position found himself all in for about 11,000 on a board reading {K-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}. Freddy Torres made the call and discovered he was in a dominating position.

Showdown
Torres: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Middle Position: {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Neither the {2-Diamonds} turn nor {4-Clubs} river changed a thing, and Torres took down the sizable pot, increasing his stack to 62,000.
