With 1,600 in the pot and a board reading , both the big blind and Angel Guillen checked to the river. The big blind then led out for 775 only to have Guillen raise to 1,625. It was only 850 more to the big blind, but he thought better of it and threw away his straight.
Obviously he thought Guillen had the ten, but we'll never know as the Team Pro slid his cards to the muck, chipping up to 19,000 in the process.
A player in middle position limped for 200 only to have Jose "Nacho" Barbero raise to 600 from the cutoff. The players on the button and in the big blind called behind, while the original limper got out of the way. It was three-handed to the flop, which saw the big blind check and Barbero bet 650. Once again both his opponents called behind, leading to the turn.
This time it went check-check to the player on the button, who wasted little time in betting 1,350. Both the big blind and Barbero folded, with the latter dropping to just 4,000 in the process.
In middle position, Team PokerStars Pro Christian de Leon min-raised to 400. Two seats over, a player popped it to 1,200 and action folded back to de Leon. He shoved for about 3,200 with , but his opponent called and tabled a dominating .
The flop fell to all but end de Leon's tournament. The turn officially ended it, making the river irrelevant.
Fredy Torres raised to 500 from middle position and was met with an all-in reraise to 2,300. The blinds got out of the way and Torres made a quick call.

Torres:
Button:
It was the classic pair vs. Big Slick flip, and Torres must have liked his spot after the flop fell . The turn changed nothing, prompting the button to rise from his chair. Just as he was prepared to make his exit, the spiked on the table, inspiring enough raw emotion for the at-risk player to slam his fist down in celebration.
Torres just smiled as the pot was pushed to his opponent.
With a limp in front of him, Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero shoved for 2,550 from middle position. Action folded back to the limper who after a few moments, opted to call with .
Barbero was behind with and was unable to catch up as the board ran out .
In case you're wondering, Day 1a completely sold out as all 33 tables in the room were filled. Playing ten-handed, that means 330 players were in action today. We're expecting the same tomorrow for Day 1b, which would bring the field up to an impressive 660; although, we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if that comes to fruition.
In what has been a rough two levels for the members of Team PokerStars, Angel Guillen is the latest to hit the rail.
Holding , Guillen and an opponent got their chips into the middle on a flop. Guillen, with roughly 18,000 to start the hand, was drawing against his opponent's . Unfortunately for Guillen, the turn and river were bricks and brought his tournament to an end.
With the recent eliminations of Team PokerStars Pros Nacho Barbero (Argentina), Christian De Leon (Mexico), and Angel Guillen (Mexico), we thought we'd give you a more in-depth look at Fredy Torres, one of the few remaining Stars pros remaining in this Latin American Poker Tour event, courtesy of the PokerStars Program:
Fredy Torres (Team PokerStars Online Colombia) was, in 2010, the first professional Colombian poker player ever sponsored by PokerStars.net. His first poker experiences were with playing free rolls until he was able to build a bankroll and began playing micro limits. It has been four years since then and he is now a Supernova Elite dedicated exclusively to poker and participating in the biggest, most competitive Latin American events both live and online. His strong area: cash games, without a doubt. An admirer of the strategic nature of poker we are sure to see a lot from him while playing in his natal Colombia.
