Jonathan Markovits Eliminated in 5th Place (R$64,540)

Jonathan Markovits - 5th Place
Jonathan Markovits - 5th Place

Jonathan Markovits had just moved all in on the hand prior to this one for 395,000 to pick up the blinds and antes. Then, on the very next hand, Felipe Morbiducci raised from under the gun to 105,000 and Markovits reraised all in for 475,000 from the cutoff seat. In the small blind, Daniele Nestola reraised all in himself. Morbiducci took a few moments, then folded and showed the {A-Diamonds}. That meant all aces were gone as Markovits held the {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Nestola the {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Nestola's aces held to send Markovits out the door in fifth place.

More Chips for Nicolas

From under the gun, Daniele Nestola raised to 85,000. Gasperino Nicolas called from the cutoff seat in the next position and everyone else folded. The flop came down {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Nestola bet 130,000. Nicolas called.

Fourth street brought the {3-Spades} and paired the board. Nestola bet 240,000. Nicolas fired all in for 1.095 million total. Nestola thought things over for a minute with just over two million behind. He wound up folding and Nicolas' cheering section let out a large roar as he was pushed the pot.

On the first hand back, Jonathan Markovits raised to 90,000 from the cutoff seat. Gasperino Nicolas called from the big blind and the flop came down {K-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Nicolas checked and Markovits fired 95,000. Nicolas called.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and both players quickly checked to see the {8-Clubs} fall on the river. Nicolas took some time playing with his chips and then fired 165,000. Markovits raised all in and Nicolas snap-called.

Markovits tabled the {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for kings and eights. Nicolas held the winner with the {6-Spades}{5-Hearts} for trip sixes and won the pot. He was all in for 470,000 on the river and now has 1.355 million in chips.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 6th Place (R$48,730)

Daniel Negreanu - 6th Place

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu was just eliminated in sixth place at the hands of Carlos Ibarra. He'll walk away with a payday of R$48,730 and here's how the elimination went down.

From under the gun, Negreanu raised to 68,000. Ibarra flat-called from the cutoff seat and everyone else folded. The dealer ran out the {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop and Negreanu bet 102,000 with 575,000 behind. Ibarra took about half a minute and then announced a raise. He slid out three tall stacks of blue T5,000 chips and made it 300,000 to go.

From there, Negreanu went into the tank. He thought for a minute or two before commenting about how it was a tough spot. He tried to chat up Ibarra a bit, but Ibarra only spoke Spanish. Still, the two went back and forth a little bit while laughing and having fun with it. Then, Negreanu reraised all in for 677,000. Ibarra stood up, took a few seconds, then called to put the four-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner at risk.

Negreanu tabled the {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades} for top pair, but was behind the trickily-played {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} for Ibarra.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and then the river the {A-Clubs}. Ibarra finished with a winning set of aces while Negreanu was left with just a losing pair of tens. Negreanu shook the hands of the players remaining and exited to the payout desk with a round of applause from everyone in the room.
