The final day of the €550 Grand Event promises to be an action-packed occasion here at the Malta Poker Festival, with just eight players returning to battle down to a champion inside the Portomaso Casino in St Julians.

The eight remaining players have outlasted a field of 1,987 entries, and are now one final hurdle away from collecting the €141,000 first-place prize.

The final table gets underway at 1 p.m. local time, where Benjamin Nicault returns out in front with 12,700,000.

Following closely, Thomas Grahs had a steady Day 3, picking up momentum towards the end to see him climb the leaderboard and finish the day in second place with 18,500,000.

The most accomplished player still in contention, Joris Ruijs, enters the final table in third place. Boasting over $4 million in lifetime earnings on The Hendon Mob, Ruijs brings a stack of 15,900,000.

Occupying the remaining top-five positions, Vincent Schueler and Giuseppe Bellinghieri have already locked up career-best scores, and entering the day in the middle of the pack, both have the opportunity to further improve on that landmark.

Completing the final table line-up are Vester Vergeest and Toni Ravnak. Despite starting at the lower end of the counts, both remain very much in contention and will look for a fast start to the final table.
