Lionel Grobocopatel Eliminated by Sofian Benaissa

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Sadly, there are no longer two Grobocopatels in the Main Event. Lionel, the elder Grobocopatel has been eliminated at the hands of Sofian Benaissa who bought in at the start of the day.

On a flop of {q-}{5-}{4-} Benaissa bet 2,500 holding {6-}{7-} and his opponent called. The turn was a {3-} giving Benaissa a straight, and he check-called a bet from his opponent of 4,500. The river was a {j-} and Benaissa checked. Grobocopatel moved all in and Benaissa called. Grobocopatel held {a-}{5-} and was eliminated.

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

We said earlier that Pierre Neuville was soaring on a table with the chip leader Abdellah El Ghrari, and even after that table broke the November Niner is still going strong.

He told us how he bet 8,000 with {9-}{9-} on a flop of {10-}{8-}{7-} and his opponent raised to 39,000. A third player in the hand tank-folded before Neuville called.

The turn was a {6-}, and his opponent moved all in for another 39,000. Neuville called, and his opponent's {a-}{10-} couldn't snatch a chop on the river and he was eliminated.

A Curious Hand Between Fernando Pons and Farid Haiche

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Fernando Pons raised to 4,600 from the button and Farid Haiche called in the big blind.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Both players checked. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and Haiche bet 5,600. Pons raised to 14,000 and Haiche called.

Both players checked the river and Haiche shrugged before showing {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Pons smiled and tapped the table as he too showed {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} as the two chopped the pot.

Pons is doing well today, having come in with just under average he is now well over that figure which currently stands at 116,000.

Jerome Zerbib vs Mehdi Senhaji

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On a flop of {q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} Jerome Zerbib bet 10,000 and Mehdi Senhaji called.

The turn was the {j-Spades} and again Zerbib bet, this time 15,000 and Senhaji called.

The river was the {a-Spades} and this time Zerbib checked. Senhaji bet 25,000 and his opponent went into the tank.

Eventually the clock was called for, and with about 15 seconds left Zerbib mucked {8-Spades}{9-Spades} face up on the table. Senhaji then showed {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and took down the pot.

"I call," said Samy Ramadan, starting a discussion as to what Zerbib should have done. "No!" said Vincent Mansour, "I pass."
