Van Putten Can't Beat Ace-Jack

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Dutch EPT winner Jasper Meijer van Putten opened from early position for 300. He picked up no fewer than five callers; a player in middle position, the cutoff, the small blind, and Bart Spijkers in the big blind all called.

The blinds checked to Meijer van Putten and he bet 700 on {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. The first player called, all other players folded.

The {2-Clubs} on the turn saw both players check and Meijer van Putten tapped the table once more when the {J-Spades} completed the board. His opponent bet 1,000 and Meijer van Putten called. He was shown {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and he silently mucked.

An Honest Mistake

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Marijn van Puffelen opened the cutoff for 300 and his neighbor, Robert Soogea, tossed in two 500-chips, making it a race to 1,000. Apparently, Soogea had intended to just call, but now it was a raise and both blinds folded. Van Puffelen called.

Both Van Puffelen and Soogea checked the {4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} flop and {J-Diamonds} turn. Van Puffelen reached for chips to bet the {5-Spades} river but Soogea instantly folded his {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} face up. Van Puffelen showed {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} as a courtesy and started stacking.

Van de Venne Be Done With It

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

We got to the action with the turn already out: {8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}. André van de Venne, an avid player from the Netherlands who's been around the world playing poker, had all of his chips in the middle playing from the big blind. A player in middle position tanked for a fair bit before he folded. Robert Soogea, who won one of the side-events here at the MCOP earlier this week, instantly folded his {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} from the small blind.

Van de Venne, eager to rake in the chips, showed {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.
