Emo Doubles Refos

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

From the button, Raoul Refos got his last 10,300 in chips in the middle. His opponent, his neighbor on his left Wim Emo, was the one looking him up.

Refos had the better hand with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, Emo was trailing with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. The board ran out an uneventful {6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Refos doubled.

Kuhlman Makes a Big Call

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Rene Kuhlman
Rene Kuhlman

We missed the initial action, we only got there on the turn as both Rens Feenstra (small blind) and Rene Kuhlman (under the gun) checked on {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} with already some big chips in the pot.

The {4-Diamonds} completed the board and Feenstra bet 6,400. Kuhlman tanked for a bit before flicking in a 5,000-chip to call.

Feenstra tabled {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for a missed open-ended. Kuhlman showed {A-Spades}{3-Spades} and took down the pot with nothing but ace-high.

Gieles Rivers the Goods

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

From early position, Steve O'Dwyer opened for 1,800. The cutoff called and Luuk Gieles over called from the big blind. Gieles checked to O'Dwyer on {K-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and saw the initial raiser bet 5,000. The cutoff folded, Gieles called.

The two checked the {J-Hearts} on the turn and Gieles checked once more on the {Q-Clubs} river. O'Dwyer contemplated what to do for just a bit before eventually checking behind.

Gieles showed {A-Spades}{6-Hearts} and took it down as O'Dwyer mucked {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

Kramer Busts Wolzak

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Stefan Wolzak
Stefan Wolzak

Stefan Wolzak, the sole Dutch poker player to enter the MCOP €25,500 High Roller, was missing from his seat. Former table mate Jasper Meijer van Putten told us how his run had ended.

Seated under the gun, [Removed:172] opened for 1,500. A player in middle position called before big blind Stefan Wolzak squeezed to 6,000. Kramer made it 12,800 and the caller now folded. Wolzak tanked for about two minutes before pushing for 42,000. Kramer called.

Wolzak had {J-}{J-} up against the {A-}{A-} of Kramer. No help on the flop, turn, or river and Wolzak exited the tournament area.

Break

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

The last break of the day just started. 15 minutes of rest for the 104 remaining players.

Arends Loses Some

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Jans Arends opened under the gun for 1,300 and found interested parties in the small and big blind willing to commit chips.

All three of them checked on {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and the {2-Diamonds} rolled off on the turn. The small blind checked once more but the big blind bet 2,700. Arends called, the small blind gave up.

The {2-Hearts} on the river saw the big blind bet 6,400. Arends tossed in a 5,000-chip to call, but needed to add 1,400 more as he couldn't beat his neighbor's {J-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}.

Everything Working for Veldhuis

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Lex Veldhuis is sitting behind a stack of 90,000, well above the average. He told us about a hand he played earlier today.

One of his opponents opened for 1,000 and Veldhuis three-bet to 3,500. The initial-raiser four-bet to 8,500 and Veldhuis flatted.

The initial-raiser bet 9,000 on {J-}{10-}{4-} rainbow and Veldhuis called. The {5-} on the turn saw the initial raiser shove for effectively 17,000 and Veldhuis called with aces. His opponent had kings and failed to catch up on the river.

Meijer van Putten Builds a Stack

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Jasper Meijer van Putten
Jasper Meijer van Putten

Meijer van Putten had some towers of chips in front of him, a lot more than the last time we checked in with him. He told us how he won a sizable pot to get him there.

Meijer van Putten opened {J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} in middle position and got a call from the cutoff and small blind. Meijer van Putten continuation bet two-thirds of the pot on {J-}{7-}{4-} with two clubs and a heart. Both of his opponents called.

The turn was the {J-Hearts}, bringing a second flush draw. The small blind checked and Meijer van Putten bet two-thirds of the pot again. The cutoff folded but the small blind shoved, which was effectively a min raise. With his trips, Meijer van Putten called. The small blind showed {J-Spades}{10-Spades} for an inferior trips, and the river blanked to gift Meijer van Putten the sizable pot.

Easy Double for Van Brugge

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Action folded to Kees van Brugge on the button and he opened for 1,200. Marcel Goldenbelt, acting out of the small blind, three-bet to 4,800. The big blind gave up and van Brugge shoved for 20,500 total. Goldenbelt called instantly.

Kees van Brugge: {A-}{A-Diamonds}
Marcel Goldenbelt: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Spades} and Van Brugge raked in the pot.

"What a player, huh?" Van Brugge quipped, referring to himself. "Also a nice hand; three pair," Van Brugge teased his friend Goldenbelt.

"How? Have I ever won a hand against you?" Goldenbelt replied with a smile on his face.
