Day 1b of the $5,300 Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party Main Event gets underway today at noon local time at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel here in picturesque North Cyprus.
Today will be the second of three starting flights, Players will have plenty of play as they will receive 100,000 starting chips and play a relatively short day of eight 60-minute levels, beginning at 200/400 with a 400 big blind ante.
There will be a 20-minute break after every two levels where players will enjoy the included buffet in the lobby made up of a spread of freshly prepared traditional Turkish food.
Day 1a was yesterday and attracted 132 total entries with 71 of those entries making it to Day 2. Denis Vitchenko led the way with a stack of 538,500 and Daniel Rezaei was second with 516,500.
One re-entry per flight is allowed, with late registration open until the end of Level 12 on Day 2. Those surviving Day 1 will return to play on September 1, with a champion being crowned on September 3.

The players were still signing their identification cards when Milos Skrbic, runner-up in the MPP Warm-Up yesterday, raised to 1,000 from the button and Danut Chisu defended his big blind.
The flop came and Chisu checked over to Skrbic, who bet 600. Chisu called as the fell on the turn.
Skrbic bet another 2,200 and Chisu once again called. The river came the and Chisu checked. Skrbic this time threw out 12,500 and Chisu quickly folded.
Skrbic flashed for the rivered full house as he took in the first pot of the day.

Action was retold to PokerNews about a wild hand that happened on the very first hand of the day.
Bernard Samaha had and was up against one opponent as the flop came giving Samaha a set. He bet 2,500 and his opponent called.
The turn action was not told, the card ending up being irrelevant, but the river came the . His opponent bet 4,300, Samaha raised to 12,000 and his opponent jammed all in which Samaha called with the set.
His opponent had the for nothing except a wheel draw and he was busted while Samaha gathered a double up on the first hand.
