Life Outside Poker is a podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 26th episode, Connor speaks with chess streamer and GGPoker ambassador Alexandra Botez about learning chess and poker from her dad, getting into streaming at Stanford, dealing with online trolls, creating content with her sister Andrea Botez and the similarities between chess and poker.
Botez also talked about winning $456,900 in a legendary 2022 Hustler Casino Livestream that included Phil Hellmuth, Mr. Beast and Ninja, as well as signing on as a GGPoker ambassador and securing two career-high cashes at World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise (she finished 60th in the $10,000 GGMillion$ Championship for $22,190 before finishing 187th in the $25,000 Super Main Event for $67,300).
George Tomescu had tossed in 35,000 from the small blind on the K♣2♥K♠ flop when Andrey Pateychuk raised or reraised to 90,000 on the button. Tomescu committed a call to the 6♠ turn, which he checked.
Pateychuk then upped the ante to 105,000, to which Tomescu responded by shoving all in for 313,000. Pateychuk let his hand go within his allotted 30 seconds, forfeiting the big pot to his opponent.
Paul Runcan raised to 16,000 from the cutoff, which Maxime Chilaud called on the button. David Vinayagamoorthy then squeezed in a three-bet from the small blind, after which Runcan quickly moved all in for about 275,000.
Chilaud got out of the way before Vinayagamoorthy made a quick call with the covering stack.
Paul Runcan: K♠J♦
David Vinayagamoorthy: Q♠Q♣
The 8♠9♠3♦Q♥ turn gave Vinayagamoorthy a set, leaving Runcan with a gutshot. The A♠ river was not his desired card, sending Runcan to the rail for the second time today.
After the preflop action had concluded, David Azevedo's stack of 375,000 was all in the middle from middle position, and he was up against Keith Lehr, who had him covered.
David Azevedo: A♦K♣
Keith Lehr: 10♥10♦
The 9♠7♠4♣8♦7♥ board ran out without Broadway cards, sending Azevedo to the rail with his Big Slick.
George Tomescu and Dzmitry Budai collected 85,000 in the middle when the 6♣9♠7♣ flop was dealt. Both players checked to the A♣ turn, where Tomescu checked again. Budai then bet 30,000, which Tomescu raised to 120,000.
Budai tossed in calling chips, and did so too when Tomescu made a small bet of 47,000 on the 8♥ river. At showdown, Tomescu peeked at his cards one last time before passing them to the dealer face down, surrendering the pot to Budai.
During the hand, Nadar Kakhmazov joined the table as the newest entry in the High Roller.
