Gabdullin Makes the Right Call Against Van Rooij

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Merijn van Rooij
Merijn van Rooij

Merijn Van Rooij was left visibily stunned after a hand against Damir Gabdullin in the early goings of Day 2.

The action was picked up on the turn with the board reading 5Q32 and with around 20,000 in the middle, Gabdullin checked from the big blind. Van Rooij the bet 14,000, and Gabdullin called.

When the 10 landed on the river, Gabdullin checked it over once more and van Rooij went for a little over a pot-sized bet of 60,000. Gabdullin went into the tank while he tried to piece together the puzzle, and after over a minute, he called.

Van Rooij then flipped A6 for ace-high with some blockers, and Gabdullin showed he rivered a pair of tens with A10 to scoop the pot.

As the pot was being pushed in Gabdullin's way, van Rooij looked a bit confused about what just happened, but regardless, his stack took a hit early on and he is down to around 70,000.
