Gulseven Beats Aces Full With a Royal Flush
The odds of hitting a Royal Flush in poker are 1 in 649,740. Well, that just happened over on Table #2!
Vladimir Erceg opened the action with a raise to 45,000 from early position, and only Erdal Gulseven called from the big blind.
Upon seeing the A♦Q♦9♣ flop come down, Gulseven jammed his last 100,000 into the middle. Erceg quickly made the call and the cards were tabled.
Erdal Gulseven: K♦J♦
Vladimir Erceg: A♥A♠
Erceg had the nuts with top set of aces, but Gulseven had a Royal Flush draw with two cards to come.
The board-pairing 9♦ turn improved both players, but Erceg's full house was way out in front. Only the incredibly unlikely ten of diamonds on the river could save Gulseven.
Gulseven was already out of his seat and preparing to leave before the river card was even dealt. This tactic seemed to work, as the 10♦ peeled off on the river to give him the best hand in poker, a Royal Flush. The whole table erupted in amazement at seeing the runout, and even Erceg, who had suffered the brutal bad beat, was all smiles.
After the players took some photographs, Gulseven sat back down, and the pot of around 350,000 was sent to him.
