Froehlich Runs into Aces

Food-poisoning victim Eric Froehlich hasn't been feeling well today. He may be feeling worse after losing 80% of his stack to Clint Keown.

Keown opened pre-flop to 21,000. Froehlich, with {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}, popped it back to 57,000. Keown four-bet to 97,000 and then snap-called all in after Froehlich shoved. Keown had the aces, {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}, putting Froehlich in a pretty terrible spot. The board ran out {9-Hearts} {10-Spades} {5-Hearts} {9-Spades} {2-Clubs} to cut Froehlich down to about 100,000 chips.

Keown is up to almost 800,000.

E-Fro Busts

Eric Froehlich shoved for 90,000 under the gun and was called by Elijah Berg on the button.

Berg: {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Froehlich: {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Spades} and Froehlich was sent to the rail. Berg is up to 385,000.

Terry Releases Aces

Todd Terry
Todd Terry
We walked up to Todd Terry's table just as he was making a bet of 50,000 on the turn of a {k-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {10-Hearts} board. There were already roughly 80,000 chips in the pot.

Terry's opponent, Travis Klein, check-raised all in for about 450,000. Terry did not look pleased by this turn. He puzzled things out for about thirty seconds.

"These can't possibly be good," he said, flashing {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}. He mucked.

"I would pay you a lot of money to show a bluff," table mate Jonathan Aguair said to Klein. Klein chose to muck his cards as he raked in the pot.

Chip leader Vanessa Selbst, who joined the table just prior to the start of the hand, looked over at Terry in surprise after he folded. "Is it that easy to get you off aces?" she asked.

"I probably wouldn't fold them to you," Terry replied. He preserved his stack at 285,000.

Bustin' Outta Here

The eliminations have come so fast in the last 10 minutes that there's a line to get paid, oddly snaking through the middle of the tournament tables. Patti Reade, who won her seat to the Main Event in a PokerStars freeroll, was one of the recent casualties. She moved all in for her last 40,000 under-the-gun with {Q-Diamonds} {9-Spades}, and Cliff Josephy called with {Q-Spades} {J-Spades}. JohnnyBax held up to send her home.

George Kalaitzis was all in with {K-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} but couldn't improve to beat Dale Jamison's {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}, giving Jamison even more chips.

Aguiar Out-Pips Pahuja

Ship the double up to Jonathan Aguiar. He got all in pre-flop with {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades} for 157,000 after Vanessa Selbst opened with a raise. Vinny Pahuja was on the button with {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} and was Aguiar's only customer. He didn't improve, {2-Clubs} {3-Spades} {8-Clubs} {9-Spades} {6-Diamonds}. That loss dropped him to 90,000 chips. Aguiar, meanwhile, is up to about 350,000.

Rousso Rising

Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso
Brandon Hall opened to 18,000 in the cutoff and Vanessa Rousso made it 50,000 to play from the button. The blinds folded and Hall made the call.

The flop ran out {J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Hall checked. Rousso bet 60,000 and Hall took his time before putting in a raise to 140,000. Rousso thought for about two minutes before moving all in. Hall quickly folded and Rousso took the pot.

She's up to 790,000 while Hall slips to 965,000.

Seiver's Sense of Fairness

Scott Seiver is always a talkative player. He had plenty to say after Ryan D'Angelo eliminated an opponent with pocket threes. D'Angelo opened under the gun for 20,000, then called when a short stack moved all in for a total of 80,000. He was up against {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} and won the race, {8-Spades} {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}. That's when Seiver offered his opinions.

"How did threes hold on 9-9-8?" he asked. Then a few moments later: "That's Ryan D'Angelo. Open with that trash U.T.G. and it holds. There's just no justice in tournament poker."

D'Angelo smirked as he stacked up 800,000 chips.

Hall Loses Massive Pot with One to Come

James Casement Sr. bet the flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for 32,000 and Brandon Hall raised to 82,000. Vanessa Rousso was next to act in the hand and folded. Casement quickly made the call.

The turn card was the {J-Clubs} and Casement instantly shipped it all in for 307,000. Hall made the call with a set of tens -- {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Casement held the {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a straight and flush draw.

The river was the {K-Diamonds} and nailed the diamond flush for Casement. He scooped in the massive pot to double up and now has 900,000 chips. Hall dropped back to 530,000.
