John Spikes Three Ladies to Double

After Tomas Elexhauser raised to 18,000, David John moved all in for 108,000. Elexhauser quickly called when action fell back on him.

Elexhauser: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
John: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The flop was big for John, coming down {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and giving him three queens. He stormed to the front and then improved to a full house when the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn. The river was the {2-Spades} and gave John the double up. He's now back over 200,000 in chips.

Two Pair for Mercier

On the flop of {J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Mark Ader checked to Jason Mercier. Sporting the Team PokerStars Pro USA badge, Mercier fired 19,000. Ader made the call.

The turn added the {K-Clubs} to the board and both players checked to see the {7-Clubs} hit the river. Ader checked and Mercier cut out 64,000. Ader tank-called and watched Mercier flip up the {J-Spades}{9-Spades} for two pair. Ader mucked and Mercier won the pot to improve to 485,000 in chips.

Kenney Loses One to Katz's Flush

From the cutoff seat, Bryn Kenney raised to 19,000. Cary Katz called from the big blind and the two saw the flop come down {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Katz checked and Kenney checked.

The turn card was the {10-Diamonds} and Katz checked again to Kenney. He checked behind.

The river completed the board with the {K-Diamonds}. Katz fired 16,000 and Kenney quickly raised to 59,000. Katz called right away and showed the {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a flush. Kenney held the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a broadway straight, but Katz's flush won the pot.

De Faria Eliminates Lewis

Mark De Faria raised on the button only to have Wayne Lewis move all in for 78,000 more from the big blind. De Faria made the call with {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and found himself in a dominating position against the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} of Lewis.

The {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop changed nothing and Lewis needed to catch an eight or running straight cards to stay alive. The {2-Diamonds} turn did not help and neither did the {J-Diamonds} river. Lewis was eliminated from the tournament while De Faria is up to 380,000.

Three-way All In

Eric Haber raised to 22,000 only to have Peter DeBest move all in for 80,000. Cary Katz then moved all in himself for around 125,000 and Haber made the call.

Haber: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Katz: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
DeBest: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

Haber and DeBest were in bad shape, especially after the flop fell {8-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. The {5-Spades} turn and {J-Diamonds} river changed nothing and Katz's aces held up to bring him up to 360,000. Meanwhile, DeBest was eliminated from the tournament and Haber dropped to just 40,000.

Tehan Doubles

Joe Tehan
Joe Tehan

Matt Affleck raised to 18,000 from under the gun and then action moved around to Larry Lipman on the button. He made the call. Joe Tehan was in the small blind and reraised all in for 233,000. The big blind and Affleck folded before Lipman tanked for a couple minutes. He wound up making the call and tabled the {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. His eights were behind the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for Tehan.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Tehan nailed a set of queens to get a stranglehold on this double up. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {8-Spades}. Lipman also made a set, but it was no good. Tehan doubled and now has about 500,000. Lipman was left with 190,000.
