Docherty Leaves Engel on Fumes

David Docherty bet 1,100 from the cutoff on a flop of 10♦9♥8♥ and Ari Engel raised to 4,000 in the big blind. Docherty called and the K♥ fell on the turn.

Engel then bet 7,200 and Docherty again called. The river was the Q♦ and Engel bet 24,000. Docherty then moved all in.

Engel called and turned over Q♥5♥ for a flush but already suspected he was beat and was getting up from his chair even before Docherty turned over his cards. Docherty confirmed his suspicions when he showed A♥6♥ for the nut flush.

The stacks were counted down and Docherty had 29,200, leaving Engel with just a single 1,000 chip behind.

The action was picked up on the turn in a hand between PokerNews Gold Pass giveaway winner Luis Rivera from the cutoff and Alexander Greenblatt in the big blind.

With the board reading K♠8♥5♦J♣, Greenblatt led for 3,000 and Rivera put in the call.

On the 7♥ river, Greenblatt led for 6,200 effective to put Rivera at risk. Rivera contemplated for about 30 seconds before he announced that he would call.

Greenblatt had top pair and Rivera called down with second pair. While his tournament run comes to an end, Rivera put up a valiant effort in a difficult field.

Heads-up on a board of A♥8♥2♣5♦, Joshua Remitio bet 7,000 from the small blind and Chance Kornuth called on the button.

The river was the 3♣ and Remitio bet 10,000, enough to put Kornuth all in. Kornuth quickly called for his last 5,500.

Remitio showed J♥9♥ for a missed flush draw and Kornuth turned over 3♦2♦ for two pair to win the pot and double up.

"One of your better hands today. You actually had a pair," tablemate Shuofei Geng joked with Kornuth after the hand.

Buchanan Finishes Off Sanchez, Kornuth Left Steaming

Chance Kornuth three-bet to 4,000 on the button before Diego Sanchez moved all in for 15,000 in the small blind. Shawn Buchanan then reshoved in the big blind.

"Dammit," Kornuth yelled out as he gave up his hand, leaving Sanchez and Buchanan heads-up.

Buchanan had woken up with kings to leave Sanchez at risk, and Sanchez found no help on the 4♦3♥4♣2♠9♠ board on his way to the exit.

"F**k you, Bucky. I was like, I'm going to have this guy dominated so often and then Bucky then rejams. I hate you," Kornuth said to Buchanan, revealing he had ace-jack.

Shen Doubles Through Sanchez

Chance Kornuth opened from under the gun before Diego Sanchez three-bet to 4,000 next to act. On the button, Ontario Gold Pass Winner Allen Shen cold four-bet to 10,200. Kornuth quickly folded before Sanchez put out a five-bet to 28,000. Shen moved all-in for 49,100 and Sanchez called it off as the covering stack.

Shen was in great shape against Sanchez and even had his suits covered. The board offered no help to Sanchez as it ran out 9♣6♠3♥3♠5♣ as Shen collected the full double.

Dube continued for 3,000 after seeing the Q♠A♠K♦ flop. Krpan answered by moving all in, producing a quick fold from Dube to take down the pot.

Ted Lawson raised to 1,200 in middle position and Maria Ho called in the cutoff. Michael Berk then moved all in for 10,900 on the button, Lawson folded, while Ho quickly called.

Berk found an ace on the A♣5♣4♦ flop to take the lead, but Ho spiked the 7♥ on the turn to make a set. The river was the 4♣ and Ho improved to a full house, sending Berk to the rail.

"Running hot. Nice catch," tablemate Nicholas Reeves said to Ho after the hand.

Tristan Wade checked the Q♣4♠2♠ flop in the hijack and called when Matthew Wantman bet 800 on the button.

Both players then checked the Q♦ turn, with Wade checking again on the J♣ river.

Wantman tossed out a 5,000 chip, leaving just a single black 100 chip behind. Wade announced all in, and Wantman snap-folded while smiling over at Wade.

That last 100 chip was gone shortly after as Wantman hit the rail.

Vlastimil Pustina opened to 1,100 in early position and Timothy Faro called in the small blind. Vanessa Kade tossed in the call from the big blind and the dealer fanned out the 7♠3♦4♣ flop.

Faro checked to Kade, who fired a bet of 2,500. Pustina folded before Faro made the call.

The 5♠ turn saw Faro check again, calling after Kade continued for 3,500. Faro checked one last time after the 7♣ river was revealed.

Kade took some time before checking back. Faro showed 4♥4♦ for a full house, raking in the pot as Kade mucked.
