Michael Farrow raised to 500 on the button and Kyle Fleishman three-bet to 2,100 in the small blind. Farrow called and they went heads-up to a flop of J♣6♠2♠.
Fleishman bet another 1,200 and Farrow called. The turn was the 6♦ and Fleishman bet 3,000.
"This is a weird one," Farrow said as he tossed ace-king into the muck. "Weird one," he repeated while Fleishman raked in the pot.
Rory Cox raised to 300 in early position and Arsani Abouelyamin three-bet to 1,200 in the hijack. Michael Liang then four-bet to 3,500 on the button, Cox folded, and Abouelyamin moved all in for around 10,000. Liang snap-called.
Arsani Abouelyamin: A♠10♥
Michael Liang: A♥K♠
Liang had Abouelyamin dominated as the flop came 6♠8♣9♦. The K♦ turn gave Liang top pair, while Abouelyamin missed the 3♣ river as he was sent to the rail.
There was already around 20,000 in the pot as Luka Sabo and Andrew Porter went heads-up on a board of 8♦6♦9♠4♦5♥. Porter then moved all in from the big blind.
Sabo was in the cutoff and tanked for several minutes until he called for his last 12,000. Porter showed 4♥2♥ for just a pair of fours as Sabo turned over A♥A♦ to win the pot.
"Tough to fold those aces," tablemate Paul Houvener told Sabo after the hand.
Porter was left with just 1,500 and was eliminated shortly afterward as the first bustout of the day.
The second of three starting flights kicks off today at 11 a.m. for the 2024 PokerStars North American Poker Tour $5,300 Main Event. Yesterday's flights saw a total of 276 hopefuls make their way to Resorts World in search of a Day 2 bag. However, just 73 were able to advance to Thursday's Day 2.
From a star-studded field, it was Bin Weng who captured the chip lead by the end of the night. The former GPI #1 player built a large stack early in the proceedings and never looked back on his way to a bag of 359,000.
