Action folded to Victor Paredes in the small blind who moved all in. Matthew Wantman took a peek at his cards in the big blind and snap-called for 685,000.
Matthew Wantman: A♥A♦
Victor Paredes: A♣J♣
Wantman had woken up with aces and was a big favorite to double up as the 9♦3♥2♠7♥10♥ gave no hope to Paredes as the start-of-day chip leader was forced to hand over most of his stack.
Maria Konnikova opened to 80,000 from under the gun and Byung Eun Shin defended his big blind.
On the K♣10♦8♦ flop, Konnikova continued for 160,000 before Shin check-jammed for 470,000 and Konnikova snapped it off.
Byung Eun Shin: 10♣8♣
Maria Konnikova: A♠A♣
Shin had outflopped Konnikova's aces and looked to be in good shape to double. The 5♣ turn was safe for Shin and he even picked up a flush draw. However, the dealer peeled the K♦ on the river to counterfeit Shin as he hit the rail in 18th place.
Jeff Madsen opened the hijack to 85,000 before Matt Affleck three-bet to 260,000 from the big blind.
On the J♦9♥4♠ flop, Affleck continued for 200,000 and Madsen put in the call.
The turn brought the repeat J♣. Affleck opted to jam for 390,000 which sent Madsen into the tank. After burning through all six of his time banks, Madsen put in the call.
Matt Affleck: Q♥Q♣
Jeff Madsen: 10♥10♣
Affleck was in good shape and just needed to fade two outs at the 9♦ river sealed his double.
Marco Johnson raised to 80,000 under the gun, Brent Hart moved all in from the button, and Johnson quickly called for 660,000.
Marco Johnson: Q♠Q♦
Brent Hart: A♣K♥
The flop came Q♣10♣6♠ and Johnson hit top set, while Hart was left looking to complete a straight draw. The 8♥ turn was safe for Johnson, while the 3♣ fell on the river and Johnson doubled up.
