Kevin Roche opened the action from under the gun with a raise to 500. The hijack and cutoff player both called before John Malvasio three-bet to 2,500 from the small blind. Roche four-bet jammed his 15,200-chip stack into the middle and Malvasio made the call.
Kevin Roche: K♠K♣
John Malvasio: Q♥Q♠
Roche got his money in as a big favorite, but that did not last long as the dealer spread a flop of 10♥10♦Q♦ and he was drawing slim. The turn 4♦ and river 2♠ sealed the deal and he was eliminated.
Action folded to John Malvasio in the cutoff, and he raised to 600. Then Kevin Roche on the button three-bet to 1,500. After it folded back to Malvasio, he made the call to see a flop.
The flop came J♣K♥8♣ and Malvasio check-called a bet of 1,200 from Roche.
After the 9♣ on the turn, Malvasio led out for a bet of 3,200, and Roche made the call.
The river was the 5♥ and Malvasio bet more than the pot, for 17,000. After spending some time thinking over his decision, Roche folded his hand to give the pot to Malvasio.
Carmen Dimaria opened the action with a raise to 400 on the button. Daniel Prante three-bet to 900 from the big blind and Dimaria made the call.
The flop came down K♠K♣3♥ and action checked through.
Prante fired out 500 on the K♥ turn and Dimaria made the call in position.
The river 6♣ rolled off and Prante sized-up to 1,500 before Dimaria put in a small raise to 3,000. Prante paid it off and was shown the bad news. Dimaria flipped over K♦J♥ and Prante showed A♣A♥ before mucking his cards.
Armine Mandjian limped in from the hijack before the player on the button bumped things up to 400. The big blind called, along with Mandjian.
The button continued for 600 on 5♠8♣2♦, only Mandjian made the call.
Action checked through on the 9♦ turn before Mandjian fired 700 on the K♠ river. Her opponent flicked in a chip for a call, and Mandjian was good after tabling K♣J♥ for top pair.
In the 853rd episode of the PokerNews Podcast, which is sponsored by PokerStars, Chad Holloway, Kyna England and Mike Holtz are back at Level 9 Studio in Las Vegas to talk about the term "fish" in poker. It's a debate set off by veteran poker media member Tiffany Michelle, who used the term while vlogging at the Arizona State Poker Championship and caused quite the kerfuffle in the poker community. It was even the topic of the most recent edition of the Muck and led the crew to the topic of proper vlogging etiquette.
They then break down a wild pot-limit Omaha hand that was about to award a $118K Bad Beat Jackpot but was invalidated due to an unbelievable river card, highlight wins by Kathy Liebert and Lisa Fleishman, and take a look at the 2024 NAPT schedule (Nov. 1-10) which included the Mixed Game Festival IX taking place at Resorts World, which has found itself in a bit of hot water with gaming authorities.
Finally, the crew remembers a trio of poker players who recently passed away in Matt Snook, Dan Sewnig, and Alexander Hill.
A new PokerNews Podcast will drop weekly every Friday at 8a PT / 11a ET / 4p UK time. Remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you do not miss an episode!
Robert Armstrong opened the action with a raise to 400 from under the gun. Players folded one by one before the big blind player three-bet to 1,100. Armstrong made the call.
The big blind player continued for 1,500 on 9♣6♦6♥ before Armstrong raised to 4,200. His opponent put in a small reraise to 11,500 before Armstrong moved all in for 22,600 total. The big blind made the call.
Robert Armstrong: J♥9♦
Big Blind: A♦A♦
The turn 2♦ rolled off before the river 9♥ smacked the felt and Armstrong drilled his nine to improve to a full house and drag in the pot.
