The Bounty Shootout

Day 1b Completed

Second Flight Complete; Ramdin, Eslami, Woodward, Smith and Tehan Advance

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin

The second flight of tables for the $10,000 ESPN Bounty Shootout at The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California wrapped up on Friday with the last five spots at the final table being secured. Those five players who will be returning Saturday for the final table are Victor Ramdin, John Smith, Joe Tehan, Matt Woodward and Ali Eslami.

Ramdin was the first player to advance and did so after beating Jesse Martin heads up. Ramdin moved on with four bounties, but that’s not the story here. Ramdin won the $5,000 Main Event at The Big Event on Thursday night after defeating Joe Hachem. He scored $500,000 for that win and it would be unthinkable if he could also win the ESPN Bounty Shootout at the same stop with such top-notch competition.

Although Shawn Buchanan and Al Janedi are tied for the bounty lead with five apiece, they were eliminated prior to making the final table. Here’s how the bounty race stands going into the final table.

The final table will commence at 2:00 PM PST out on the West Coast. The stakes will be raised as every bounty will be worth $10,000 and the winner is set to take home a first-place, winner-take-all prize of $171,700. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for all of the live reporting from the floor.

Eslami Locks Up Final Spot at Final Table

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Ali Eslami
Ali Eslami

Ali Eslami and Sameer Al Janedi finally got all the money in preflop. Eslami raised to 8,000 from the button, Al Janedi shoved for 27,000 and Eslami called.

Al Janedi: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Eslami: {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Eslami's flush won him the hand and the table. He will join the others at the final table tomorrow along with his three bounties.

Al Janedi Playing Tight

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Ali Eslami raised from the button and made it 8,000 to go. Sameer Al Janedi called from the big blind and the flop came down {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Al Janedi led for 8,000 and Eslami raised to 28,000. Al Janedi showed the {K-Hearts}, meaning he had at least top pair, and folded. Al Janedi was left with 35,000 in chips.

Woodward Wins Flip and Makes the Final Table

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Matt Woodward
Matt Woodward

Matt Woodward and Shannon Shorr wasted little time in getting the money in after coming back from the break. Shorr held the {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Woodward the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and gave Woodward the lead. With Shorr the shorter-stacked player in the hand, he'd need to hit a six on the turn or river to stay alive.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and the river the {5-Diamonds}. Shorr was eliminated while Woodward won and will be coming back tomorrow for the final table. Shorr did leave with four bounties for $8,000. Woodward's only bounty was the one that mattered, the last one.

From the button, Matt Woodard raised to 6,000. Shannon Shorr called from the big blind and the flop came down {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Both players checked and the turn brought the {J-Spades}. Shorr bet 10,000 and Woodward called.

The river completed the board with the {6-Hearts} and both players checked again. Woodward tabled the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and won the pot.

Al Janedi Shoves Turn

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

From the button, Ali Eslami raised to 6,000 and Sameer Al Janedi called from the big blind. The flop came down {J-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Al Janedi checked. Eslami bet 4,500 and Al Janedi called.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and Al Janedi moved all in for 20,000. Eslami folded.
