2025 Onyx Super High Roller Series
In the 912th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway comes to you from the Chamada Prestige Hotel & Casino, which is currently hosting the World Poker Tour (WPT) Cyprus Championship. It's there that he caught up with Will Kassouf for an exclusive interview to discuss his controversial run in the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, why he acts the way he does, and where things currently stand between him and the WSOP. Chad also asks if he experienced any sort of mental health situation during the WSOP, or perhaps was influenced by any sort of substances, while also inquiring how Kassouf thinks he's perceived in the poker world. Spoiler Alert: he says he is the 'Donald Trump of poker.'
Chad then sat down with WPT commentator Tony Dunst, who bagged Day 1a of the $3,500 WPT Cyprus Championship. The two Wisconsin boys talk about visiting Cyprus for the first time, sports, and what life is like nowadays for the debonair Dunst, who has now been with the WPT for 15 years!
These are two interviews that you don't want to miss!
On one of the last hands of the first level, Jesse Lonis raised the button, and Espen Myrmo potted it out of the small blind. After the big blind folded, Lonis four-bet to 86,500. Myrmo pondered for a while, then raised to put Lonis all in for his stack of 197,500. Lonis called.
Jesse Lonis: A♥A♠Q♦9♥
Espen Myrmo: A♣K♦Q♣8♦
Lonis had aces, but Myrmo picked up some outs on the 10♦4♠8♠ flop. The remainder of the board ran out 6♦6♥, and Lonis' aces held up, earning him a much-needed double up through Myrmo.
Level: 2
Blinds: 1,500/3,000
Ante: 3,000
Raphael Schreiner raised the button and Jesse Lonis three-bet to 26,500 out of the big blind. Schreiner made the call to see a flop.
A monotone flop of K♣2♣9♣ came down and Lonis made a continuation-bet of 18,000. Schreiner slid in the call.
Two checks followed the 3♠ turn to see the 2♦ appear on the river. Lonis checked for the last time, and Schreiner bet 52,000. Lonis let his hand go, and the pot went over to Schreiner.
Espen Myrmo made it 8,500 from the cutoff and only Jesse Lonis called out of the big blind.
Lonis chose to lead out for 9,000 upon seeing the 4♦2♣6♠ flop, which was called by Myrmo.
The J♣ appeared on the turn, and Lonis led out again, this time for 38,500. Once again, Myrmo continued in the form of a call.
When the 5♦ dropped on the river, Lonis checked and allowed Myrmo to make a bet of 125,000. Lonis pretty quickly tossed his cards into the muck and forfeited the pot to Myrmo.
From the button, Fahredin Mustafov made it 8,500 to go with Jorryt van Hoof calling from the small blind, and Jonas Kronwitter defending his blind.
The dealer spread out a flop of Q♠K♠3♣, and Van Hoof opted to lead out for 15,000. Kronwitter folded, but Mustafov stuck around with a call.
The 3♠ turn and 4♦ river were checked down by both players and Mustafov took down the pot with A♦A♣J♣Xx for a pair of aces.
With four players at the table, Jesse Lonis looked just half of his hand and came in with a raise to 8,500 from the cutoff. Espen Myrmo called from the button before Tomasz Krzesins potted it out of the big blind to 27,000. Lonis and Myrmo came along with a call.
Krzesins and Lonis checked the A♦9♠7♥ flop, and Myrmo fired out a bet of 42,000. Krzesins folded, and Lonis folded while showing A♥Q♥ for the first two cards he looked at.
With nine players registered, the $51,000 Onyx SHRS PLO Championship has started.
