We cruised by Wenling Gao's table to see how she was getting along, and the answer is, pretty well, and Gao has chipped up to 62,000. While we were unable to catch her in action we were rewarded with an interesting hand that played out between Wilson Li and Song Zhenyu.

When we arrived the small blind had a single yellow 1k chip out in front of him on the felt, and cards in hand and was facing a decision as big blind Wilson Li was all in for his last 10,000. Song Zhenyu was also all-in for 20,000 sitting under-the-gun, and the small blind was considering his options. Eventually, he decided on the safer one and folded and the cards were revealed.

Li was all out of luck and the run out came to bring his Day 1B to a close and bring Zhenyu back up to starting stack.

Gao is not the only High Roller finalist in the running today and we spotted third-place finisher Albert Paik in the field, and he has evidently been busy as is sitting on a stack of 57,000.

Wong Pressures Hong; Pan's The Man

Carson Wong's stack has been in the top 10% of the field all day, at one point leading the entire pack. He continues to build, opening the button to 2,000 and getting three-bet by Xuechun Hong in the big blind. Back to Wong, he came in with a four-bet to 21,000 and Hong would ultimately let it go.

Speaking of the top 10%, you'll now find Yuefeng Pan right up there. We're not sure how he got them, but he's currently sitting with a stack of 155,000 - good for the chip lead.

Tan and Tang Down

The field is shrinking now rather than growing and has dropped to 180 of the 261 entrants. One of the latest casualties is Jay Tan, who was kind enough to tell us her tale of woe.

It all started with a raise, as these things often do, with Tan making it 1,800 to go from UTG+2 before an opponent in the small blind re-popped to 5,500. Tan pulled the trigger for 42,000 with and the small blind made the call with pocket jacks and flopped a set, and that was it for Tan, at least for the Day 1B flight, though registration is still open for the Day 1C turbo.

A player who will be trying his luck in that is Danny Tang, who could not find any traction in the 1B Main Event flight. Tang too was a victim of ace-king syndrome, three-bet shoving all-in with the Big Slick and getting called by an opponent's king-queen. While this would normally be a good thing, the flop came down and Tang left the table before the rest of the cards came off the deck.

Another One Bites The Dust

If only we could tell you who it was doing the biting.

You see, Sparrow Cheung had opened to 2,000 in the cutoff and Momo Yin called from the small blind. The player in the big blind then jammed for 18,500 which shook off Cheung, but Yin would make the call. He had , and that was ahead of the all-in player's .

The flop put the worst hand in front, although not for long. The landed on the turn followed by the river, sending the player out before we could ask him his name.

What we can tell you is that Yin now has 87,000, while Cheung sits with 37,500.

Lee Still Leading

Jeho Lee is still the tournament frontrunner, and has been a busy bunny since last we checked, running his stack up to the giddy heights of ~137,000, though he is an uneven chip stacker, so this is just a best guess estimate.

Lee padded out his stack a little more at the expense of Zhongcai Peng, who had opened the action from late position with a raise to 2,000. Lee was in the small blind and he re-popped to 7,500 to send Peng into tank mode. Eventually, the Chinese player gave it up, leaving Lee to rake in yet another pot.

Carson Wong is still sitting with over 100K - 101,200 to be exact - but we could not catch him in action when we called by his table.

The USA's Benjamin Hamnett is still plugging away, but his stack remains much as it did the last time we caught him in action. There was close to 7,000 in the pot on the flop and Hamnett (cutoff) was facing a bet of 6,000 from an opponent sitting in middle position. Hamnett chose to let it go, dropping down to 48,300 after the hand.

Cheng Collects From Tang

Le Peng Cheng and Danny Tang just tangled in a pot, with Tang in the big blind seat and Cheng under the gun pre-flop.

The two had built a 7,700 pot by the time the dealer spread the flop, and Tang checked it to over. Cheng led for 5,100, and after weighing his options Tang opted for a call, bringing the turn. When Tang checked again, Cheng upped his sizing to 12,000. That was enough to get Tang to lay it down.

He drops to 28,700, while Cheng moves up to 50,000.

Running Kings into Aces is an occupational hazard when you play poker, but it's not a fun experience, as Tian Tang can attest to.
