Kings Good for Wood

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Robert Wood
Robert Wood

We've seen another knockout here in the early going, this time courtesy of Robert Wood.

The hand saw an early position raiser bet 350, then the player to his left reraising to 1500. It folded around to Wood who called, and the original raiser stepped aside.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and the reraiser continued for 3,000. Wood called. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, prompting an all-in push from Wood's opponent for 7,300 and he again called. Wood's opponent showed {A-}{K-} while Wood had {K-}{K-}, and after the {10-Clubs} river another player was sent railward.

Wood is now sitting with about twice the starting stack of 30,000 as we move into Level 2.

More For Meek

After an early-position raise to 450, Brian Meek called on the button. Alan Kraut popped it to 1,500 from the small blind, chasing out the early-position raiser. Meek called to see a {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop which both players checked.

The {4-Hearts} turn fell and Kraut checked. Meek bet 1,600, Kraut called, and the {7-Diamonds} landed on the river. Kraut checked for a third time and Meek bet 2,000 this street. Kraut quickly called, but mucked when Meek tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for a full house.

Hill Climbs

Gregory Fishberg raised to 325 from middle position, then David Hill reraised to 1,100 from a seat over. It folded back to Fishberg who quickly called the reraise, and the pair watched the board come {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Fishberg checked, Hill bet 1,100, and Fishberg again didn't hesitate before calling.

The turn brought the {J-Clubs} and checks from both. Then when the {A-Spades} fell on the river, Fishberg fired 1,600. Hill waited a beat, then called, and Fishberg instantly mucked his cards.

Hill then slid his cards face downward toward the dealer as the chips were slid his way, at which point Fishberg inquired whether or not Hill had to show. While that is the case in other venues, here the winner actually does not have to show when his or her opponent mucks beforehand.

Paredes Runs Into Kings

David Paredes
David Paredes

The player under the gun opened to 350 and was called by Matt Glantz in early position and David Paredes in the big blind.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Paredes checked to the UTG player who bet 650. Glantz folded, Paredes called, and the {J-Clubs} hit the turn. Another check from Paredes led to another bet from his opponent, this time for 1,100. Paredes called to see the {9-Diamonds} river where it was more of the same as Paredes check-called 2,100.

His opponent tabled {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, sending Paredes' hand to the muck.

Cherish Is the Word

The late-arriving Cherish Andrews was just now involved in another hand, raising to 350 from under the gun and getting two callers, including Mohamad Saadeghvaziri from late position. The flop came {K-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Andrews continued for 750, with only Saadeghvaziri sticking around with a quick call. The turn was the {8-Hearts}, and when Andrews bet 1,500, Saadeghvaziri instantly put out the calling chips once again.

The river saw a similar sequence following the appearance of the {7-Hearts}. Andrews bet 2,400 this time, Saadeghvaziri called right away, and Andrews showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, better than Saadeghvaziri's {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}.
