Beasy Gets Value from Vang

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Joseph Beasy
Joseph Beasy

Kou Vang was in the small blind and saw action folded to him. He completed to put action onto Joseph Beasy, who checked his option out of the big blind.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} and both players checked. Vang bet 3,500 on the turn {8-Spades} and Beasy put in a raise to 10,000. Vang called.

The river fell {3-Hearts} and Vang checked again. Beasy put out a bet of 15,000 and Vang called immediately, beating him to the pot.

Beasy tabled {a-Spades}{9-Clubs} for top two pair and Vang sat, looking at his cards before showing a second-best hand of {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, leaving him with just 11,000 behind. He got a shove through from the button on the next hand, but still remains the short stack among the eight players left in the tournament.

Vang Gets a Double

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kou Vang
Kou Vang

Kou Vang shoved his last 21,500 from under the gun and action folded around to Blake Bohn, who called from the small blind.

Kou Vang: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Blake Bohn: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Vang's was in need of hitting one of his two live face cards to improve his king-queen beyond Bohn's ace-jack. The flop {3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} was of no help to him, but the turn {k-Spades} gave him a pair of kings. Only Barry Greenstein could now eliminate him, and the ace on the river did not come as the final card {2-Hearts} hit the felt to secure the double at Bohn's expense.

Matakis Gets a Snap-Fold from Bohn; Espeseth Eliminated

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Ian Matakis opened to 5,500 from early position and got a call from Blake Bohn, who was in the cutoff. The two saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and Matakis checked to Bohn, who put out a bet of 10,000.

Matakis looked over to Bohn's stack and Bohn moved his arms so that all of his chips could be seen. Matakis went back into the tank for a few moments and then threw out a check-raise to 33,000. The chips fell over one another to create a string of chips across the felt, and Bohn sent his cards to the center of the table before Matakis' chips all hit their resting place, resulting in Matakis taking down the pot.

Moments later, Cody Espeseth was eliminated from the tournament after getting all in with ace-jack to the pocket kings of Daniel Schmidtknecht, with the runout providing no help to send him to the rail in ninth place.

Bohn Takes from Petronack

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Blake Bohn
Blake Bohn

Blake Bohn opened to 6,000 from under the gun and action made its way back to Jeff Petronack, who defended his big blind. Both players checked the flop {7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Hearts} to take action to the turn {6-Hearts}.

Petronack made a bet of 7,000 and Bohn took about five seconds to match it, bringing the river {8-Clubs}. Petronack fired out another 17,000 and Bohn instantly called.

Petronack showed {j-Hearts}{10-Spades} for jack-high, prompting Bohn to table {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} for a pair of kings, earning him the pot and taking him to second in chips with nine still remaining.

Petronack Three-Bets Schmidtknecht

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Daniel Schmidtknecht opened to 5,500 from the hijack and was three-bet to 13,000 by Jeff Petronack, who was in the cutoff. Action made its way back to Schmidtknecht and he thought for close to a minute before sending his cards to the muck.

After folding, Schmidtknecht now finds himself as one of three remaining players with under 40,000 in chips with the penultimate level of the night underway.

Peppe Shoves the Flop Into Four Players; Chip Counts at Break

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The tournament is now on the last 10-minute break of the evening. This is the last chance to register.

On the penultimate hand before break, Kou Vang opened to 4,500 out of middle position. Vic Peppe called from the hijack, as did Ian Matakis from the button. Daniel Schmidtknecht in the small blind and Jeff Petronack in the big blind both called as well to take action five ways to a flop of {6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

Action checked over to Peppe, who shoved all in. All four players quickly folded and he took down the pot, showing {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} in the process for a flopped top-top.

Peppe Doubles; Bloomberg Falls to Matakis

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded around to Vic Peppe, who was on the button and opened to 4,000. Daniel Schmidtknecht was in the big blind and looked across the table from the one-seat to see Peppe's stack, which was below that of which he started. Schmidtknecht then defended to bring a flop of {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Both players checked,

The turn came {2-Diamonds} and Schmidtknecht checked again. Peppe fired out a bet of 8,000 and Schmidtknecht called. The river fell {10-Spades} and Schmidtknecht checked for a final time. Peppe bet 11,000 and then raised his hands up to show that he had no chips behind. The dealer responded by sending an all-in button his way along the felt.

Schmidtknecht thought for a bit and then decided to call.

Vic Peppe: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Daniel Schmidtknecht: {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

Peppe's flopped set of kings proved to be good at showdown to score him the double.

Moments earlier, Mark Bloomberg was eliminated from the tournament in 10th place at the expense of Ian Matakis, who has further extended his chip lead as a result and now sits with just over a quarter-million in chips.

Hanner Makes a "Good Call"

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jon Hanner
Jon Hanner

There was around 11,500 in the middle from preflop action between Jon Hanner in the cutoff and Mark Bloomberg, who was on the button. The flop came {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Hanner bet 3,000. Bloomberg called.

The turn fell {a-Clubs} and Hanner checked. Bloomberg put out a bet of 5,500 and Hanner made the call.

The river was {2-Diamonds} and Hanner checked again. Bloomberg reached for chips, grabbing three T5,000 chips and four T500 chips to put out a bet of 17,000. Hanner went into the tank for about half a minute and then put in chips to call.

"Good call," said Bloomberg, tabling {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for king high. Hanner showed {j-Spades}{10-Hearts} for a pair of tens and the dealer shipped him the pot.
