Curti Gets a Knockout

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

A player raised to 6,000 from under the gun and was three-bet by the hijack to 15,000. The player on the button cold-called, as did Aaron Curti out of the big blind. The original opener called as well to take action four ways to the streets.

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Curti, first to act, reached for chips. He took T5,000 chips, two by two, and put them into a stack that was ten chips tall. He then looked at the chips, considering a bet, before putting them into the middle. The under-the-gun player folded and then the three-bettor from the hijack asked for confirmation of the amount.

"Fifty thousand," said the dealer. The player responded by committing all of his chips, which looked to be close to 50,000. The dealer threw the all-in button out and announced that the player was all in. The player on the button folded and regardless of stacks, Curti announced that he called.

Hijack: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Aaron Curti: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

The hijack got his chips in after flopping top pair, top kicker, only to run into Curti's top two pair. He would need to hit running Broadway cards or find a miracle ace to stay alive and would be unable to do so as the turn came {4-Spades} with the river {k-Clubs} falling behind it to complete the runout.

The dealer announced that jacks up were the best hand and reached over to take the hijack's stack from the seven-seat and send it to Curti, who was on the other side of the table patiently awaiting his newly-earned chips from the two-seat.
