Panayiotis Giannakopoulos raised to 4,000 and Mattia Festa called, as did Franco Da Matta who literally kissed his chips goodbye before tossing them into the middle from the big blind. Da Matta checked the Q♣4♦3♠ flop and Giannakopoulos bet to force two folds.
In the meanwhile over on table three, Patrice Ah-Nien squeezed preflop to win a decent pot and then flashed his Q♣Q♥ before collecting the pot.
On the river of a K♣Q♥9♠2♠7♦ river, Panayiotis Giannakopoulos checked and then faced a bet of 100,000 by Mattia Festa. He spread all of his time banks out in front and very reluctantly called to then muck versus A♦K♦.
In the meanwhile on table three there was a three-way all-in. Daniel van der Berg had reraised to 10,000 preflop and Praful Patwa then jammed. Raphael Bsiri reraised to more than 200,000 and van der Berg called all-in behind.
Praful Patwa: J♠10♣
Daniel van der Berg: A♦Q♥
Raphael Bsiri: A♣K♣
"Don't worry, there will be a ten on the turn," Bsiri told Patwa but the ten already came on the 10♦5♣3♦ flop. The K♠ turn put Bsiri back into the lead and the 2♥ river was a blank to send two to the rail.
Theuns Prinsloo was moved to the "table of death" with the aggressive big stacks and found himself all-in and at risk with the A♦9♠. Panayiotis Giannakopoulos tried to score the knockout with the 8♣7♣ and even had a flush draw on the K♠K♣3♣ flop. But the Q♦ turn and A♠ river were blanks.
Level: 8
Blinds: 1,000/2,000
Ante: 2,000
On a heads-up turn of K♠Q♠2♥10♣, Franco Da Matta and Rajeev Poonhath invested 35,000 each to then check the 4♥ river.
They showed the K♦10♣ and K♥Q♥ respectively, and Da Matta was the only to scramble them before raking in the pot.
In the meanwhile, the field has been whittled down to the last 22 players after the departures of Nathan Pan and Emily Chen.
In a multi-way limped pot to the 7♣6♣6♠ flop, the action checked to Jean Pierre Sgiaravello and he bet 5,500. Both Praful Patwa and Daniel van der Berg check-called. The 9♦ turn was checked to van der Berg who bet 10,000. Sgiaravello folded and Patwa reluctantly check-called to then lead the 3♠ river for 20,000.
Van der Berg called all-in for 17,500 with the 10♥6♥ and Patwa mucked.
Mattia Festa had previously doubled while Panayiotis Giannakopoulos lost a chunk of his stack to then defend his big blind against an open raise to 4,000 by Banks Solomons. Giannakopoulos check-called the 10♥3♥2♥ flop for 5,000 and the 2♣ turn for 16,000. They checked the 9♣ river and Giannakopoulos tabled the A♥7♣.
Solomons had that beat with the A♣9♥ to chip up.
In a previous hand, Thomas Ye four-bet jammed for 132,500 and Raphael Bsiri forfeited his squeeze to 20,000.
Soon after, Pu Zhang three-bet jammed his severe short stack and Ye cold-called.
Pu Zhang: A♠3♣
Thomas Ye. K♠K♦
No ace appeared on the Q♥Q♦J♠6♣5♥ board to knock out Zhang.
On the river of a 8♦6♦6♣A♠9♠ board, Obi Zhang overbet for 100,000 and Pu Zhang called. The former tabled the 7♠6♠ for trips sixes and that left his namesake very short.
Thanos Vogiatzis jammed the J♠6♠6♦ flop for a shorter stack and was called by Obi Zhang with the J♦5♦ for jacks and sixes. Vogiatzis' 9♠2♠ for the flush draw had outs but bricked the A♥ turn and Q♣ river.
Zhang then squeezed to 21,000 soon after and folded when Pu Zhang jammed for 146,000 preflop.
