Three ways to the Q♣8♠4♠7♠ turn, Panayiotis Giannakopoulos bet 1,200 and was called by Banks Solomons as well as Franco Da Matta. The A♦ came on the river and now they checked to Solomons, who bet 3,000. Da Matta quickly folded and so did Giannakopoulos.
Solomons flashed the 10♥ only.
Day 1b is up to 24 entries early into level two and the latest editions both hail from China, which doesn't come as a surprise with many of them investing actively in many different Asian countries these days.
Harold Brooks check-called a bet of 6,000 by Raphael Bsiri on the 10♥5♣3♥A♣ turn and they both checked the 4♣ on the river.
Brooks tabled the K♦10♦ for the flopped top pair of tens but Bsiri's J♠J♣ won the pot.
Level: 2
Blinds: 200/400
Ante: 400
After the enormous early clashes, it is almost a miracle that only two players have been eliminated. The field size for today now stands at 22 entries of which 20 players remain and the latest two to join the fray can be found below.
Panayiotis Giannakopoulos raised to 800 and Dan Zvonaru three-bet to 1,300. Franco Da Matte called out of the blinds and Giannakopoulos also came along. The A♥10♠5♣ flop saw all invest 1,100 and they checked down the 2♥ turn as well as the 9♦ river.
Da Matta tabled the 3♦3♣ and Giannakopoulos had that beat with the 9♣6♥ after which Da Matta gasped a near silent "what the fuck", Zvonaru mucked.
Rajeev Poonhath had just entered when he got it in against Praful Patwa and it was the most classic of setups that followed.
Praful Patwa: A♣A♦
Rajeev Poonhath: K♦K♣
The 10♦6♠5♦4♦2♦ board kept Patwa ahead and he doubled for 27,500.
One table over, Costa Giannakopoulos entered right next to his son and someone jokingly said "now you have to behave" to Panayiotis [Giannakopoulos].
Four ways to the A♠Q♣3♠ flop, there was a bet for 8,500 in front of Banks Solomons with Panayiotis Giannakopoulos and Dan Zvonaru already having called. Jasbir Panchi then jammed for 22,300 on the button and Solomons in the small blind announced a reraise to 45,000.
Giannakopoulos used one time bank and folded, Zvonaru then pushed all-in and Solomons called to create the next three-way all-in on the outer tables.
Jasbir Panchi: A♣8♦
Banks Solomons: A♥J♠
Dan Zvonaru: Q♠2♠
"Hold please," Solomons said and the wish was granted with the 6♥ turn and 9♦ river. Panchi busted and Solomons doubled off Zvonaru for 86,900.
Giannakopoulos told him "that was an interesting raise" and Solomons replied there would have been "many polarising turns against you two".
Praful Patwa clashed with Harold Brooks and the latter was the player at risk in the following flip.
Harold Brooks: 9♠9♣
Praful Patwa: A♥K♦
The board ran out 6♦3♦2♦2♣5♥ and the pocket pair awarded a double to Brooks for 86,100.
One table over, Banks Solomons bet the J♦8♣3♥ flop for 3,000 and then folded when Jasbir Panchi check-jammed for 18,200.
With the entry of Raphael Bsiri, the field required a third table to open and Harold Brooks was moved over there to balance the field. Obi Zhang, Franco Da Matta and Praful Patwa on his re-entry all entered too to bring the field up to 19 entries with 18 players left.
