With plenty of chips in the middle already and the flop showing 10♦7♠6♦, Dan Zvonaru bet 19,000 to force out Marko Nortje. Yoav Rottenberg then jammed for 42,000 and Zvonaru quickly called.
Yoav Rottenberg: A♥10♥
Dan Zvonaru: J♣J♠
The overpair of Zvonaru held on the 3♣ turn and 6♥ river to send Rottenberg to the rail.
In a three-bet pot to the 6♥5♠4♠ flop, Panayiotis Giannakopoulos and Dan Zvonaru checked to Franco Da Matta who bet 7,000 and picked up two calls. Giannakopoulos jammed the 7♥ turn and forced two folds, then exclaimed "this is a shit card" pointing towards the turn as he flashed the 3♦2♠ for the flopped bottom end of the straight.

Patrice Ah-Nien squeezed to 4,000 preflop and Muzamil Gothey called as they headed to the 9♠8♦2♣ flop. Gothey checked and Ah-Nien won the pot with a bet of 3,500 before the 27 players out of 31 entries headed into a 15-minute break.
A trio of players from South Africa has entered the fray towards the end of the second level to boost the field up to 27 entries out of 31 players remaining. That includes Imran Bhojani, Marko Nortje and Divan van Wyk.
Dan Zvonaru squeezed to 13,500 to get called by both Costa Giannakopoulos and Panayiotis Giannakopoulos as they headed to the Q♦J♣7♣ flop. Costa Giannakopoulos bet 22,000 to get called twice and the 10♠ on the turn was checked. Costa bet again for 66,000 on the 9♥ river and forced two folds to show the A♥.
"Good yeah? Friends," he said and Zvonaru replied "good enough".
One hand later, Giannakopoulos reraised to 15,000 in the small blind and Banks Solomons squeezed to 45,000 thereafter. Giannakopoulos pushed all-in and Solomons called to create a massive pot.
Costa Giannakopoulos: A♠A♥
Banks Solomons: K♠K♣
The K♦6♥2♦10♦2♥ board improved Solomons to kings full of deuces. Both stacks were counted and the 192,000 and change of Giannakopoulos were covered.
Ak Ak limped in and then called a raise to 1,200 by Xuecheng Mi as they headed to the K♠8♣7♠ flop. Ak Ak check-called for 1,800 and the 10♥ turn as well as the A♦ river were checked by both.
Ak Ak tabled the 10♠6♠ and that won the pot, as he teased Mi in Chinese for a handful of seconds.
Day 1b is now up to 25 players out of 27 entries remaining as the action has become slightly less explosive half-way through the second level of play. Patrice Ah-Nien jumped in and was joined on the latest new table by Muzamil "Muzi" Gothey.
Panayiotis Giannakopoulos squeezed to 3,800 in the small blind and Dan Zvonaru called in the big blind. Ak Ak then pushed for 50,700 from under the gun and Giannakopoulos folded, while Zvonaru called.
Ak Ak: Q♣Q♠
Dan Zvonaru: 8♦8♥
It was a mighty sweat on the 7♥6♥2♥K♣K♠ board but the shorter stack survived with superior two pair.
