Worcester Climbs Above Starting Stack in Style
Level 25
: Blinds 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Tom Magee raised to 40,000 under the gun and Jack Marani called in early position. Paul Valastro then moved all in for 110,000 in middle position, and John Worcester called for his last 85,000 in the big blind. Magee also put in his last few chips, while Marani got out of the way.
Tom Magee: A♠J♠
John Worcester: A♣A♥
Paul Valastro: K♥K♦
Worcester had woken up with aces and was a big favorite to take the pot. "Nothing higher than a nine," he pleaded, and the board ran out J♥4♠3♥4♦9♦ to keep him in the lead and earn him a triple up. Magee was sent to the rail.
"This is the first time I've been above starting stack since the first hand," Worcester said.
