Irish Poker Festival

Today, inside the magnificent Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, Ireland, the first of four Main Event opening flights of the 2024 Irish Poker Festival gets underway at 1 p.m. local time. This marquee event, with a €3,000 buy-in, features a guaranteed prize pool of €700,000 and will see a host of poker enthusiasts from across the globe gather in an attempt to etch their names into the poker history books.

In 2023, Michel Molenaar of the Netherlands topped a field of 286 entrants to win the €210,000 first-place prize, marking his career-best tournament score. Molenaar defeated the United Kingdom's Tomas Macnamara heads-up, while Glen Keogh of Ireland rounded out the podium places in third.

Gilmore Takes From Myrmo

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Before the start of this hand Michael Dwyer got the table to agree to show one card when they win a hand for this level.

Espen Myrmo raised to 300 from the hijack and Alan Gilmore defended out of the big blind.

After Gilmore checked the 765 flop, Myrmo put out a continuation-bet of 300. Gilmore called.

The 5 turn saw Gilmore check to Myrmo again, and Myrmo fired out a bet of 500. Gilmore check-raised to 1,600, which Myrmo called.

Gilmore bet 2,100 on the 3 river and Myrmo folded. Gilmore opted to show both cards as he flipped over 54 for trip fives that turned into a straight on the river.

Sklenicka Check-Raises

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Sean McCann limped from the button, and so did Alan Gilmore in the small blind, so Michael Sklenicka in the big blind only had to check his option to discover a flop of A44.

Both players in the blinds checked, and McCann bet 500. He made Gilmore check-fold, but Sklenicka check-raised to 1,800. McCann quickly folded.

Sklenicka offered McCann to see one of his cards. He chose one and Sklenicka flipped over the A.
