Robert Mizrachi Moves into the Chip Lead

Robert Mizrachi just took a nice pot from Fabrice Nkoa to move into the overall tournament chip lead.

On a board showing {Q-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts}, the eldest Mizrachi brother check-called a 25,000 bet from Nkoa. The river brought the {Q-Spades} and Mizrachi check-called another Nkoa bet, this time for 100,000.

At the showdown, Nkoa tabled a pocket pair of eights and was one-upped by Mizrachi who revealed pocket tens.

The pot hoisted Robert past Patrice Sitbon into the overall tournament chip lead with 890,000.

Double-Ups! Get Your Double-Ups!

We join the action on the flop in a heads-up pot with more than 160,000 chips already in the center. The board shows {K-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. Patrice Sitbon checks to his opponent, and Willy Korchia moves all in for 188,100. Sitbon goes deep into the think tank, pondering his options as he counts his chips and re-checks his cards. After five minutes or more, he finally says, "Okay," as he pushes the call into the middle.

Korchia tables his {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}, and it's the leading hand versus Sitbon's {10-Spades} {10-Clubs}. The turn and river fail to find Sitbon, coming {8-Hearts} and {6-Clubs} respectively. Sitbon grants another double up, and finds himself bleeding chips here in the early going. He has fallen all the way back into the 300,000-chip range after starting the day as the commanding chip leader.

Stephane Liger Eliminated in 39th Place ($15,693)

We eavesdrop on a hotly-contested preflop pot over on the middle table nearest us. There is an opening raise to 15,000, followed by a call. A third player joins the hand, reraising to 55,000, prompting an all in from Stephane Liger, who holds {A-?} {K-?}. He is looked up by his opponent, showing down {K-?} {K-?} and putting Liger in serious danger of being eliminated.

Much to his chagrin, the board runs out dry for him, coming {Q-?} {3-?} {10-?} {3-?} {9-?}, and sending Stephane Liger to the cashier's desk early to collect his 39th place money.

One of the players mixed up in the preflop battle told us he folded pocket tens.

Salim Metina Eliminated in 40th Place ($15,693)

Salim Metina has been eliminated from the tournament by Poker Battle representative Patryk Hildebranski. All of the money went in preflop and Metina found himself dominated holding {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} against Hildebranski's {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}.

The board blanked out king-high and Patryk's ace-queen high was good enough to take down the pot.

Metina will take home $15,693 in prize money for his efforts.

Niclas Dymling Eliminated in 41st Place ($15,693)

Niclas Dymling
Niclas Dymling
Niclas Dymling has just been knocked out of the tournament by chip leader Patrice Sitbon.

Short-stacked, Dymling moved all in over the top of a preflop raise made by Sitbon holding {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}. Sitbon made the call and tabled {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}.

The {A-Diamonds} appeared in the door and Dymling conceded defeat with a shrug of his shoulders and watched the rest of the board blank out {6-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades} {7-Clubs}. Dymling will take home $15,693 for his efforts.

Case of the Missing Player?

Somehow, the player eliminated in 42nd position is currently unaccounted for. We missed his elimination hand and the Partouche staff does not have his name either. We've checked with the payout booth twice and they too are unsure of his name and whereabouts.

We'll pass on the name as soon as it's made available to us.

It's Getting Hot in Here

It has been very warm in the tournament room since the event began, but today is taking that to another level. The air conditioning system in the casino has gone on the fritz overnight, pushing the temperatures up even higher than normal. On top of that, there is now an enormous lighting system in the middle of the room, generating a considerable amount of heat on its own. If we had to guess, it's probably between 80 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit in here right now.

The players seem to be right on the edge of comfort, fanning themselves with anything they can find and wiping the sweat off their brows. It remains to be seen if the less-than-ideal temperature affects play at all.

An Ace, Bro

A player opens the action with a raise to 13,000 in early position. Looking down at {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} on the button, Patrice Sitbon reraises to 40,000. Next to act is Patryk Hildebranski in the small blind, and he comes back over the top, moving all in for a total of 228,500. The original raiser folds. Sitbon asks for a full count, and as soon as he learns the number, he immediately makes the call. Hildebranski tables {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}, and is in bad shape for his tournament life.

Patryk looks at the dealer and asks him, "You have an ace, bro?" Sure enough, the dealer obliges and spreads out {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts} on the flop, pushing Hildbranski into the lead. Even better, fourth street is the {A-Spades}, locking up the pot and doubling the young player up to about 475,000. "Thank you, mister dealer," he says as he begins to re-stack his chips.

Sitbon, meanwhile, has taken two big hits in the last five minutes, and he has fallen back under the half-million mark.
