Mateos Puts Foxen to the Test

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

The flop came {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and there was already 1.8 million in the pot as Alex Foxen and Adrian Mateos were left heads-up. Foxen checked from the small blind and Mateos checked behind on the button.

The turn was the {q-Clubs} and Foxen checked again to Mateos who fired 660,000 this time. Foxen called and the {5-Clubs} landed on the river. Foxen checked for the third time and Mateos announced all in for 3.43 million. Foxen went into the tank for a couple of minutes before Mateos finally called the clock. As the time was running out, Foxen tossed his cards into the muck and Mateos took down the pot.

In one of the first hands back from break, there was a three-way all-in involving David Peters, Steffen Sontheimer, and Rafael Moraes. Peters held the shortest stack of around 1.7 million and was at risk of being eliminated.

Steffen Sontheimer: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Rafael Moraes: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
David Peters: {a-}{q-}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Peters was eliminated. His remaining chips were chopped up by Sontheimer and Moraes as there are now eight players remaining.

Sontheimer Takes Some More Hits

Level 18 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Steffen Sontheimer has clearly been the most aggressive player at the table but it has not been working out for him. He raised to 250,000 from the cutoff and Adrian Mateos called from the big blind. The flop came {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Mateos check-called a bet of 215,000 from Sontheimer.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and both players checked to the {4-Diamonds} on the river. Mateos led out for 800,000 and Sontheimer was forced to fold.

On the next hand, Sontheimer raised to 250,000 again and Rafael Moraes pushed all in for 2.6 million. Sontheimer thought for a moment but elected to fold again.

"You're a folding machine," Mateos said with a laugh.

Kenney Makes the Nut Flush

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Steffen Sontheimer raised to 175,000 from under the gun and was called by Sam Greenwood in the small blind and Bryn Kenney in the big blind. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and the action was checked to Sontheimer who continued for 150,000. Both Kenney and Greenwood made the call.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and the action was checked around to the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Greenwood checked again and Kenney fired out 575,000. Sontheimer called and Greenwood folded. Kenney turned over {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the nut flush and took down the pot.

Mateos Spikes an Ace to Double Up

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Adrian Mateos and Sam Greenwood got all of their chips in the middle and it was a classic race situation. Greenwood held {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Mateos showed up with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The flop came {a-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Mateos took the lead. The turn was the {3-Spades} and the river brought the {6-Spades}, improving his hand to a flush.

"I never win a flip against you, Adrian," Greenwood mentioned after the hand.
