Julian Thomas Runs Out of Chips

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Julian Thomas
Julian Thomas

Start-of-the-day chip leader Julian Thomas moved all in for his last 81,000 and Paul Michaelis called all in for his last 39,000 out of the blinds.

Paul Michaelis: {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Julian Thomas: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Thomas jokingly asked for an ace and his wish was immediately granted with the {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop. Both the {4-Clubs} turn and the {6-Spades} river failed to improve Thomas and Michaelis doubled with a full house.

Soon after, Thomas got the rest of it in from under the gun and Jan-Peter Jachtmann three-bet to 75,000, forcing out everyone else.

Julian Thomas: {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Jan-Peter Jachtmann: {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The flop of {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} gave Jachtmann top pair, and the {A-Clubs} turn and {10-Spades} river left Thomas empty-handed to reduce the field to the last 12. Half of them will leave empty-handed still, as just the top six receive a portion of the prize pool.

Millionaire Moritz

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Moritz Dietrich is up to over one million in chips
Moritz Dietrich is up to over one million in chips

Moritz Dietrich raised under the gun to 18,000, with the whole table folding around to Kacper Pyzara in the big blind, who called the extra. The pair went heads up to a {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, where Pyzara front-jammed for around 50,000 - a little over pot. Dietrich called so quickly, the dealer couldn't even pass Pyzara the all-in triangle.

Pyzara's {j-Spades}{8-Spades} was in rough shape against Dietrich's {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, but the {5-Clubs} turn did offer some chop outs. The {q-Spades} wasn't one of them, and we lose Pyzara in 12th place. Meanwhile, Dietrich is up to over one million in chips.

Michaelis Loses Flip to Bust

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

Paul Michaelis had previously folded to a three-bet shove of Michal Schuh and was soon after in action again. This time it was a flip for his tournament life, and Benjamin Benoit had him well covered.

Paul Michaelis: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Benjamin Benoit: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The board of {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades} improved the Frenchman and Michaelis bowed out in 11th place.

Schuh Eliminated by Benoit

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Michal Schuh
Michal Schuh

We join the action in a hand between Michal Schuh and Benjamin Benoit, on a {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} board, with roughly 60,000 in the middle. Schuh checked over to Benoit, who bet out 37,000, before Schuh raised all-in for around 200,000.

Benoit called instantly, turning over {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for top pair top kicker, and the nut flush draw. Schuh's {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} was in horrible shape, and he failed to pair up on the {7-Diamonds} river, meaning he finished the High Roller in 10th place, bursting our final table bubble.

Dietrich Busts Jachtmann

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jan-Peter Jachtmann
Jan-Peter Jachtmann

Moritz Dietrich raised from the cutoff and Jan-Peter Jachtmann moved all in for more than 25 big blinds out of the small blind. Once the action was back on Dietrich, he called and Jachtmann was the player at risk with the inferior hand.

Jan-Peter Jachtmann: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Moritz Dietrich: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

There was no help on the board {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} and jachtmann had to settle for ninth place, while Dietrich claimed the top spot once again.

De Meulder's Heart Doesn't Pay Off

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Matthias De Meulder
Matthias De Meulder

Matthias De Meulder raised to 23,000 and Moritz Dietrich three-bet to 60,000, which the Belgian called. On a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}, De Meulder check-raised from 50,000 to 138,000 and Dietrich called before the {J-Spades} turn saw a bet of 257,000 by De Meulder and a call by Dietrich.

The {J-Hearts} river paired the board and completed a possible flush draw- De Meulder moved all in for 440,000 and Dietrich snap-called to see the Belgian table {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for a busted straight draw. Dietrich had that beat with {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a full house and claimed a massive pot.

"He showed a lot of heart," Sander van Wesemael said in table chat while Dietrich bumped his stack to more than two million.

Loeser Loses It All

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Van Tiep Nguyen raised under the gun to 25,000, getting 3-bet to 75,000 by Moritz Dietrich next to act. Manig Loeser then went deep into the tank in the small blind, knowing he was going to have to take a showdown if he chose this time to shove.

Eventually, he moved in for his last 145,000. Next, it was Nguyen's turn in the tank, though he eventually screwed his face up and mucked his cards. Dietrich shrugged and called it off, turning over his {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} hoping he would have two live cards. Loeser's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} was way out in front, but things got a little sweaty on the {9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop. Although Loeser flopped top pair, he would need to fade a ten or a diamond, as well as some backdoor stuff.

The {8-Spades} bricked on the turn, but the {3-Diamonds} would complete Dietrich's flush as he knocks out Loeser on the money bubble.

Our remaining six players each have €12,500 locked up.

Sander van Wesemael Eliminated in 6th Place (€12,500)

Sander van Wesemael
Sander van Wesemael

In a three-bet pot to the {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, Benjamin Benoit checked to Sander van Wesemael, who bet 115,000. Benoit moved all in and van Wesemael called for his remaining 220,000 behind.

Sander van Wesemael: {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Benjamin Benoit: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The {9-Spades} turn improved Benoit's over pair to a straight and he held up as a blank {Q-Spades} fell on the river, eliminating van Wesemael in 6th place for €12,500. All remaining five players are now guaranteed at least €20,000.

Brutal Match Up Favours Benoit

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Benoit with over half of the chips in play
Benoit with over half of the chips in play

Anatoly Filatov opened under the gun with a raise to 30,000, which was called by everyone left at the table with the exception of Van Tiep Nguyen. The players took a {5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop four ways, with action checking round to Moritz Dietrich on the button, who put in a 70,000 bet. Benjamin Benoit made the call, with Filatov and Jack Sinclair both folding.

Benoit decided to lead the {j-Hearts} turn for 78,000, before Dietrich raised it up to 275,000, and Benoit moved all-in. There was no need for a count, as Dietrich called the shove immediately, turning over his {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for flopped second set. He was drawing to literally one card, as Benoit revealed {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for flopped top set!

Dietrich failed to improve on the river, but Benoit didn't, as the {9-Spades} landed to give him quad nines. The chips were counted out, and it was revealed that Dietrich owed the modest sum of 1,646,000 chips, leaving him with fewer than 20 big blinds.

Moritz Dietrich Eliminated in 5th Place (€20,000)

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Moritz Dietrich
Moritz Dietrich

Benjamin Benoit raised first to act and called the shove of short stack Moritz Dietrich in the big blind for less than 200,000.

Moritz Dietrich: {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Benjamin Benoit: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The previous clash of the two left Dietrich short in chips, and Benoit finished off the job after the board came {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. Dietrich was eliminated in 5th place and takes home €20,000 for his efforts, while the final four have €30,000 locked up.
