Value for Bicknell

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Jonathan Wong raised to 3,000 on the button and Kristen Bicknell three-bet to 10,500 from the small blind, which Wong called. On the {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop, Bicknell continued for 8,000 and was called before the {4-Spades} turn went check, check. The {8-Hearts} appeared on the river and Bicknell's bet of 13,500 was called eventually to see the Canadian turn over {K-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for top pair and rake in the pot.

Julian Thomas Leads High Roller After Day 1 in Rozvadov

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
German Poker Championships
German Poker Championships

The 2017 partypoker LIVE German Poker Championships saw a total of 40 entries for the €5,300 High Roller tournament at the King's Casino in Rozvadov, putting the event on track to meet the guarantee of €250,000. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available for another four levels on Day 2 and the action will recommence as of 2 p.m. local time on Thursday, August 10th.

Leading the field of 33 survivors that bagged up chips is 2013 WPT Prague champion Julian Thomas (288,000), who edged past Moritz Dietrich (278,100) in the last level of the night. Thomas was among those to join with a slight delay and immediately scored a huge boost to his stack when his back door nut straight on the turn was good enough to double through Manig Loeser's turned set of jacks.

German High Roller regular Philipp Gruissem rounds out the top three overnight with 219,200, while Paul Michaelis follows close behind with 214,500. Just before the clocks were stopped and the last hands for the night announced, the WSOP bracelet winner from Berlin flopped a set of nines and scored a full double through the flopped set of deuces of Pierre Neuville. The Belgian made it through to Day 2 with just 59,000 as a result.

Other notables and big stacks include 2017 WSOP Main Event 8th place finisher Jack Sinclair (190,400), Ismael Bojang (180,000), partypoker team pro Kristen Bicknell (156,500), Sander van Wesemael (114,300), Matthias de Meulder (112,300), Maxi Lehmanski (82,700), the second-ever Czech WSOP bracelet winner Artur Rudziankov (77,800), partypoker team pro Jan-Peter Jachtmann (77,300), 2016 November Niner Vojtech Ruzicka (28,800) and former EPT champion Hossein Ensan (26,000).

Among those to bust on Day 1 were Kenny Hallaert, Andreas Eiler and Anatoly Filatov. They may all very well be back in action for level nine with blinds of 800-1,600, the button ante is in play. All new entries and re-entries will receive 100,000 in chips and the tournament is scheduled to play down to a winner on Day 2, though depending on the field size this may be alternated still.

PokerNews is your one-stop-shop for all you need to know during the festival at Europe's biggest poker arena in Rozvadov, so make sure to tune back in regularly.
