Sergey Verkhoturov

The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia broke the record for the largest poker event in Russian history, on the day that 231 players advanced to Day 3 at the Sochi Casino & Resort.

Of those 231, 161 players will cash, with a min-cash worth 5,800 Casino Sochi Units (CSU) (approx. $5,000). The winner will walk away with a cool 1,160,000 CSU (approx. $1,000,000).

Leading the way into Day 3 is Sergey Verkhoturov with 11,050,000. In the last level of the night he picked up Kings and Aces in quick succession, taking them to showdown on the river to win multi-million chip pots which saw him soar to the top of the chip counts.

Joining him is the player sat immediately to his left Alexander Krasuntcev (10,350,000) as well as other big stacks Yury Masliakou (10,905,000) and Gary Banks (10,455,000).

Both Day 1A chip leader Matt Eardley (4,900,000) and Day 1B chip leader Dmitriy Kopyl (5,455,000) will be advancing to Day 3.

partypoker still has a strong presence with several satellite and online qualifiers making it through to Day 3, along with Sponsored Pros Anatoly Filatov, Johnny Lodden and Richard Dubini (4,715,000).

Among the players who failed to make it through to Day 3 are Leon Tsoukernik, Mikhail Shalamov, partypoker Chairman Mike Sexton, Roman Cieslik, Pavel Shirshikov, Manig Loeser, and Aleksandar Tomovic.

However, moving on to Day 3 are the likes of Bertrand Grospellier (4,130,000), Jeff Lisandro (5,335,000), Konstantin Puchkov (8,635,000), Philipp Zukernik (3,330,000), Shyngis Satubayev (2,325,000), Mark Mccluskey (4,680,000), Peter Smyth (4,443,000), Andrey Pateychuk (7,465,000), Manig Loeser (4,350,000) and Vytautas Milbutas (5,400,000).

Pierre Neuville Eliminated by Aleksei Istomin

Level 14 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

Pierre Neuville was spotted leaving the tournament area. He explained that on a flop of {9-}{7-}{2-}, Neuville bet 400,000 and his opponent, Aleksei Istomin, raised all in for more than two million.

Neuville had just under two million in his stack and he called.

Istomin showed {a-}{9-} for top pair, top kicker, but Neuville was best with {k-}{k-}.

The turn was a safe {2-}, but the river was another {9-}, giving Istomin the best hand and eliminating Neuville in the process.

Rush Hour for Krasuntcev

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Alexander Krasuntcev
Alexander Krasuntcev

Alexandru Papazian opened to 100,000 from under the gun and Anton Gililov called in the small blind. Alexander Krasuntcev three-bet to 275,000 in the big blind and both opponents called. On the {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop the trio checked and Gililov checked the {A-Hearts} turn as well. Krasuntcev bet 425,000 and picked up just one call by Gililov to see the {4-Clubs} river.

After playing with his chips for half a minute, Gililov shoved for 1,200,000 and Krasuntcev snap-called with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. Gililov was caught with {8-Spades}{7-Spades} and joined the rail.

The next hand, Krasuntcev limped in and Papazian raised to 150,000, which Krasuntcev called. The flop of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} was checked and Krasuntcev check-called a bet of 350,000 on the {5-Hearts} turn. After the {10-Diamonds} river, Krasuntcev checked and Papazian shoved for 1.8 million. Again Krasuntcev snap-called and Papazian showed {6-Spades}{3-Spades} for a bluff gone wrong. Krasuntcev had {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for two pair to win the pot, and eliminate his second opponent in two hands.

"Steve, What Have You Won?"

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer, Anatoly Filatov and Martin Kabrhel
Steve O'Dwyer, Anatoly Filatov and Martin Kabrhel

There was a discussion between partypoker Sponsored Pro Anatoly Filatov and another Russian player at the table. We heard tablemate Steve O'Dwyer's name mentioned a couple of times, and it culminated in Filatov asking O'Dwyer the following question.

"Steve, what have you won?" asked Filatov, "EPT Monte Carlo, couple of High Rollers."

O'Dwyer smiled. "Seven, actually," he replied.

"Don't worry," Filatov said to his friend, "He wins a lot but he's a fish! Very tight. He likes to travel a lot!"

"And now you come to Russia!" exclaimed a smiling Martin Kabrhel.

Urbanovich Doubles; Dietrich Busts Gerasimova and Neuville

Level 12 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

Hand 1

On a flop of {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, Dzmitry Urbanovich was all in for 730,000 from under the gun with the {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Lika Gerasimova called with {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for top pair and the same gutshot. Urbanovich's hopes were of hearts, and he indeed got there after the {2-Clubs} turn and {7-Hearts} river.

Hand 2

Down to 360,000, Gerasimova moved all in the next hand and Pierre Neuville reshoved for one million on the button. Moritz Dietrich moved in over the top from the small blind and the following showdown emerged:

Lika Gerasimova: {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Pierre Neuville: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Moritz Dietrich: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop gave Gerasimova top two pair, but the {2-Diamonds} turn counterfit those. A blank {5-Clubs} river changed nothing and Dietrich knocked out Gerasimova and Neuville.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and it checked to Dietrich who bet 150,000. The three other players all called.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds}. It checked to Neuville who moved all in for 630,000. Dietrich called and the other two players folded.

Richard Dubini raised to 90,000 and Anatoly Filatov called before Stanislav Kozlovskyi moved all in for 930,000. Dubini folded and Filatov called, then got his mini camera ready to film the showdown.

Stanislav Kozlovskyi: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Anatoly Filatov: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The board came {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{J-Spades} and the stack of Filatov was cut in half. He then tried to win a pot against fellow partypoker Sponsored Pro Richard Dubini and folded to a check-shove on the {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} turn to see his stack melt to around 670,000.

Last but not least, Ivan Shulga raised to 100,000 from under the gun and Yevgeny Kafelnikov called on the button. Filatov defended the big blind. On a flop of {J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Filatov moved all in and Shulga did so as well to force out Kafelnikov.

Anatoly Filatov: {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Ivan Shulga: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

The {7-Diamonds} turn and {6-Hearts} river bricked off and Filatov was eliminated. However, he can still re-enter once until the start of Level 13.

Former Grand Slam Tennis Player Yevgeny Kafelnikov Doubles Through partypoker Pro Roberto Romanello

Level 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Roberto Romenello

Yevgeniy Kafelnikov raised to 40,000 from middle position and Roberto Romanello three-bet to 275,000 from the big blind. Kafelnikov called.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Romanello check-called a bet of 150,000 from his opponent.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, pairing the board, and again Romanell check-called a bet of 250,000 from Kafelnikov.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Romanello check-called for a third time. This time Kafelnikov slid out a bet of 525,000 and Romanello went into the tank.

"Queen-ten?" asked Romanello, "Nothing else I beat..."

"Quads," replied Kafelnikov.

Eventually Romanello called and Kafelnikov tabled {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for a full house.

"No Yevgeny," said tablemate Anatoly Filatov, "That's a Full House!"

Richard Dubini Doubles Through Fellow partypoker Sponsored Pro Anatoly Filatov

Level 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Richard Dubini raised to 45,000 from the cutoff. The button called and fellow partypoker Sponsored Pro Anatoly Filatov, who had already doubled up the player to his right twice, called in the small blind. The big blind called as well and the four players each saw the {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop.

Filatov bet 50,000, the big blind folded before Dubini raised to 200,000. The button folded and Filatov asked how much Dubini had. The answer was somewhere in the region of 600,000. Filatov then called.

Both players check-called the {3-Diamonds} turn before the river came the {5-Diamonds}. Filatov moved all in and Dubini snap-called.

"Three pair," announced Filatov, tabling {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, but Dubini held {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for a flush.

"Ah," exclaimed Filatov, "The nuts!"

The players now sit on equal stacks at the same table in the theatre.
