Dmitriy Kopyl Leads After partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event Day 1B

Level 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Day 1B Chip Leader Dmitriy Kopyl
Day 1B Chip Leader Dmitriy Kopyl

Day 1B of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event attracted 313 players, slightly more than the 262 that Day 1A attracted.

That figure of 313 includes both players that qualified through Phase satellites on partypoker, as well as direct entries here at the Sochi Casino & Resort in the Krasnaya Polyana region of Russia.

After eight 60-minute levels it is Dmitriy Kopyl who is the clear chip leader with 5,924,000 leading the 204 advancing to Day 2.

Other big stacks include Gary Banks (3,560,000), Gerald Karlic (3,446,000), Konstantin Generalov (3,267,000) and Aleksei Kozlov (3,201,000).

Other notables advancing include Konstantin Puchkov (2,750,000), Bertrand Grospellier (2,240,000), Martin Kabrhel (1,936,000), Jeff Hakim (1,761,000), Vitaly Lunkin (1,450,000), Sergey Lebedev (1,330,000), Eugene Katchalov (1,301,000) and Philipp Zukernik (1,030,000).

Pierre Neuville

Another big stack advancing to Day 2 is 2015 WSOP November Niner Pierre Neuville (pictured above). The 74-year-old was active throughout the day, and appeared to never be out of a pot in the early goings. Despite a rollercoaster day at times, he bagged a healthy 3,470,000.

partypoker Sponsored Pro Jan-Peter Jachtmann was among the players to bust and re-enter. He paid off the Aces of Martin Kabrhel for most of his chips, and then got it in with top-pair and a flush draw against a flopped straight. His second bullet went slightly better, and he will be taking through 1,680,000 in chips to Day 2.

Another partypoker Sponsored Pro who will be joining him in Day 2 is Johnny Lodden who bagged up a healthy 2,866,000 at the end of today’s eight levels of play.

Lodden secured a huge double up through Vladimiar Karakiyan on a {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop. Lodden moved all in with pocket Kings, and managed to get called by the King-Jack of Karakiyan. The turn and river were both blanks, and that was enough to get him up over the two million chip mark.

Day 2 starts tomorrow at 4 p.m., but not before a special Turbo Day 1C has been played and the final list of players advancing to Day 2 confirmed. Day 1C will start at 12 p.m. and has special 20-minute levels.
