Cate Hall and Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault Are Perfecting the 'Stare Down'

Level 11 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault raised to 12,000 from the cutoff and Cate Hall put in a three-bet to 36,000 on the button. Perrault dramatically looked over Hall's arms to peek at her stack, and she opted to stare him down as he did so. Perrault called.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Perrault checked to Hall, who put in a continuation bet of 18,500. Perrault called.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and both players checked to the river, which was the {q-Spades}. Perrault checked, and Hall thought for about a minute before betting 73,000. Perrault, who has had his hoodie over his mouth for the majority of the hand, began counting his chips out. He then went back to starting at Hall, clearly contemplating his next move. Eventually, he folded.

This round goes to Hall.

Sam Chartier Eliminated by Vishal Singh Maini

Level 11 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Sam Chartier
Sam Chartier

Sam Chartier was all in before the flop with ace-king and got action from the start-of-day chip leader, Vishal Singh Maini, holding pocket jacks.

The flop brought a jack, and the board paired on the turn, so Chartier was drawing dead to the river and was eliminated.

Maini is now the overwhelming chip leader, and is closing in on a million chips.

With about 100,000 in the pot already, on a board reading {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}, Cate Hall was in the hijack and checked to Alexander Turyansky in the cutoff.

Turyanksy bet 85,000, which was most of Hall's remaining stack.

Hall, who has been vocal on Twitter about her commitment to the game, putting in many hours of study-time, analyzed her opponent carefully and was clearly weighing all of her options. Eventually, she called.

Turyansky rapped the table in defeat, tabling pocket fives. Hall revealed {a-Spades}{3-Spades} for a pair of aces and raked in the pot.

Hall is currently the last woman standing in this field, as Kristen Bicknell and Maria Ho were recently eliminated, following Xuan Liu to the rail.

Mike McDonald

With about 30,000 in the pot already, on a board reading {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, Sam Chartier checked from the big blind.

Mike McDonald was in the hijack and bet 10,000, getting a call from Benoit Galland on the button. Chartier immediately pushed forward a stack worth 235,000. McDonald had 41,300 behind and went into the tank. Eventually, he called. Galland quickly folded.

McDonald tabled {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for top pair, top kicker and Charter tabled {5-Spades}{3-Spades} for a flush draw.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and the river was the {7-Diamonds}, giving McDonald the double up he was looking for.
