Francois Billard Doubles With the Ladies

Level 8 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Francois Billard
Francois Billard

Francois Billard got a much needed double up as he held {Q-}{Q-} vs his opponents {10-}{10-}. They got all the chips in the middle preflop and Billard held on as the board ran out {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Billard now sits with a quality stack size and will look to build on that as we head into Day 2.

Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

On a board reading {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, Peter Weinand led out for 90,000 into a pot of around 200,000. The action was on Jonathan Duhamel, WSOP 2010 Main Event Winner, and he took his time before moving his entire stack of 695,000 into the middle. Weinand made the call and Duhamel was in the lead but his opponent had some outs.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds} and {7-Spades} giving Duhamel the double up.

Julian Milliard-Feral Chips Up Close to the Leaders

Level 8 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Julian Milliard-Feral has been chipping up slowly and amassing plenty of chips. In a recent hand, Milliard-Feral raised from early position to 45,000 and two opponents called him. The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Milliard-Feral led out for 77,000. One player made the call and they were heads up to the turn.

The turn brought the {Q-Hearts} which led to the action being checked around. When the river came the {J-Clubs}, Milliard-Feral bet 125,000 and his opponent announced call. Milliard-Feral tabled {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}, good enough to take the pot, and add to his already healthy stack.

Karim Abdelhamid Takes the Chip Lead

Level 7 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Karim Abdelhamid was facing a bet of 130,000 with the flop showing {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and already over 100,000 in the pot. Abdelhamid slid out a raise to 630,000, virtually putting his opponent to the test for his tournament life. Abdelhamid's opponent pushed in the rest of his chips and the card were tabled.
Abdelhamid - {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent - {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The turn and river were no help to his opponent leaving Abdelhamid collecting the pot with a fist pump and now the chip leader.

It's a Heavyweight Bout

Level 6 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Maria Ho
Maria Ho

With a couple big names sitting on the same table in the likes of Maria Ho and Jonathan Duhamel, there has been no shortage of action on Table 65. As Ho was stacking chips from the previous pot, she was faced with a raise of 35,000 from an opponent in late position. Ho took her option to three-bet to 90,000 from the cutoff in order to take the lead in the hand. However, Duhamel was sitting in the big blind and was having none of it. Duhamel reraised to 210,00 forcing both the initial raiser and Ho to send their hands into the muck. These big name players will be looking to increase their stacks as we head into the latter part of Day 1a so we will be keeping a close eye on them.
