Sexton Struggles Out of the Gate

Level 1 : 2,000/5,000, 500 ante

Mike Sexton, a well-known icon in the poker community, is one of the more familiar faces amongst the players competing here in Montreal this week. However, with the fame, comes a target on your back as well.

In a more recent hand, action was on Sexton in the big blind and he was facing a raise of 20,000 with two callers in between. Sexton made the call and four players saw the flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Action was checked to his opponent in late position who made a bet of 30,000, and Sexton was the only one who called.

Heads up to the turn {5-Spades}, Sexton led out for 35,000 and his opponent raised to 75,000. Sexton shrugged his shoulders and called.

The river {7-Diamonds} killed the action as it went check-check and the hands were tabled. Sexton showed {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, but his opponent got the best of him on the turn, showing {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

Troy Reardon Eliminates His Opponent Early

Level 1 : 2,000/5,000, 500 ante

With 80,000 in the pot and a board reading {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}, Troy Reardon called a bet of 30,000 from his opponent in early position. The player to Reardon's left moved all in for his remaining 170,000. The initial bettor folded and Reardon threw one chip in the pot, signifying a call. His opponent showed {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} but was way behind Reardon's {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. The turn was a {6-Clubs} and Reardon locked up the pot and an early elimination.

2013 WSOP Main Event Champion Ryan Riess Enters the Field

Level 2 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

The room is filling up at a rapid pace here at the Playground Poker Club.

World Series of Poker 2013 Main Event Champion, Ryan Riess, has taken his seat and looks to add another title to his already-impressive resume. Riess has already had a phenomenal year with deep runs in the Bahamas and Panama, followed by a World Poker Tour win in the $10,000 Main Event at the Seminole Hard Rock, and then a final table finish in Monte Carlo just a couple of weeks later.

Riess' latest success has pushed his lifetime recorded earnings over $10 Million.
