Bujtas Takes the First Blood

Level 20 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

Tom Hall claimed the first pot by raising with pocket deuces and then Jason Wheeler raised to 90,000 with the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. Laszlo Bujtas defended the big blind with {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and the flop came {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, which both players checked. After the {4-Clubs} turn, Bujtas checked and called a delayed continuation bet for 80,000 before the {2-Diamonds} river was checked through.

Bujtas showed his queens and eights, and that won the pot.

Merrilees Gets Short - Break Before the Final Table

Level 20 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

Hand 1

Daniel Merrilees check-called a bet of 40,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop with the {A-Hearts}{4-Spades} out of the big blind and Laszlo Bujtas had the {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. On the {9-Diamonds} turn, Merrilees then checked again and folded when Bujtas bet 550,000.

Hand 2

One hand later, Merrilees limped in, and Stefan Schillhabel checked his option. The flop fell {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Merrilees bet 40,000 with {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Schillhabel moved all in with the {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and the Brit folded.

Right after, the chips were racked up to set up the nine-handed table and the action will resume in approximately 15 minutes. The redraw is to follow shortly.

Bujtas Gets Two

Level 20 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

Daniel Merrilees raised from the button with the {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Laszlo Bujtas defended the big blind with the {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. On the {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Bujtas check-called a bet worth 60,000 and then checked again the {7-Clubs} turn. Merrilees bet 115,000 and Bujtas called to create a pot of half a million.

The {8-Spades} river was checked through, as Merrilees checked behind his busted straight and flush draw to drop below half a million.

The next hand, Bujtas limped in with the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Jason Wheeler raised to 100,000 with {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Bujtas three-bet to 295,000 and that won the second pot in a row.

The Plan for Tonight

Level 20 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

The remaining nine players have been briefed by Simon Trumper and agreed to continue playing until the last six, and then discuss the further plan for the night. Play has just resumed and all further updates will be based on the delayed live stream, which is 30 minutes behind real time.

The Clock Is Paused

Level 20 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

The tournament clock is not ticking at the moment, as the final nine players are having a small break before beginning the unofficial final table. Fresh counts are being made as well and will be up before play recommences.

Tom Hall came in for a raise to 60,000 from the cutoff, Oliver Waters moved all-in from the button for 331,500 and Bartlomiej Machon reshoved out of the big blind. Hall quickly got out of the way, and the hands were on their backs.

Oliver Waters: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Bartlomiej Machon: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

Waters needed help, but he didn't find any as the board ran out {5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Machon scooped the pot, and the remaining nine players made their way to the unofficial final table.

Chris Backhouse Finds Crucial Double

Level 19 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

Tom Hall came in for a raise of 60,000 from first position before Chris Backhouse moved all-in for 379,500 from the button. Both the blinds folded, and the decision was on Hall. He thought a minute or two before making the call with {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, and he was in decent shape against the {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} of Backhouse.

The board ran out {7-Spades}{J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, and thus Backhouse secured the important double on the unofficial final table bubble.
