Day 1 of the partypoker MILLIONS Germany €50,000 Super High Roller has ended with 8 players of the 47 initial entries continuing their road to victory and that first prize of €800,000. The third and last Super High Roller on the schedule attracted 36 unique players with 11 of them having had to reenter after failing to win an all-in. Leading the pack with the biggest stack is Mustapha Kanit with 11,475,000 chips.

The tournament started with a slight delay to give the high stakes players a chance to join the action. As expected, the Germans made up a big chunk of the entries as nine of the nineteen players that entered during the first level of play came from Germany. Timothy Adams was the first player of the day that had to reenter after he lost most of his stack when his jack-nine lost to the king-jack of Jean-Noel Thorel. Adams then lost the rest to Daniel Pidun with ace-queen against queen-jack when Pidun hit the jack on the flop. But his reentry went a lot better as he has taken 10,555,000 with him to the final table tomorrow.

Kanit was last to enter the tournament and in his opinion that’s the best way to win tournaments. The talkative Italian will be looking to add another high roller win to his already impressive resume. Patrik Antonius is also through to tomorrow with 3,035,000 chips. The Finn already won the first Super High Roller on Saturday but needed his second bullet today to finish with another shot at a title and trophy.

Also through to tomorrow are Tobias Ziegler (7,830,000), Chi Zhang (4,895,000), Felipe Ramos (3,440,000), Dietrich Fast and ”Big Tony” (1,665,000)

Unfortunately, not everyone made it through to Day 2, Johannes Becker winner of the second Super High Roller lost all his chips when he ran his ace-queen into the queens of Ziegler. The partypoker Ambassadors Patrick Leonard, Joao Simao, Sam Trickett, and Team partypoker's Philipp Gruissem all failed to make it to through to the final table.

Action will continue tomorrow at noon local time and the players will be starting on Level 18 with the 80,000/160,000/160,000 blinds and button ante. Levels will last 40 minutes until the final six players have been reached. The levels will then increase to 60-minutes each. When the heads-up starts, the levels will be shortened. The live stream will start on a 30-minute delay with hole cards and is scheduled to start at 12:30 pm local time.

Only six players will be in the money and a min-cash will be worth €130,000. This is what they will be playing for:

Kanit Snags Late Lead

Level 17 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

Timothy Adams raised to 290,000 in the cutoff and Mustapha Kanit three-bet to 1.4 million out of the big blind. Adams gave it some thought and called. On the {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, Kanit continued for 950,000 and Adams called. Both players checked the {4-Diamonds} turn and Kanit then bet the {9-Diamonds} river for 2.85 million. Adams checked his stack carefully and folded.

In the last hand of the night, Kanit limped in from the small blind and Tobias Ziegler checked. On the {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, Kanit bet 140,000 and Ziegler folded. The remaining eight players are now bagging and tagging for the night.

Continued Aggression by Adams

Level 17 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

Dietrich Fast limped in from the cutoff and so did Timothy Adams on the button and Big Tony in the small blind. Patrik Antonius checked his option in the big blind and the four-way flop of {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} was checked through. On the {2-Clubs} turn, action checked to Adams and he bet 225,000, only Fast called. No further action followed on the {6-Diamonds} river and Fast revealed the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for a slow-played full house as winning hand.

Chi Zhang raised to 300,000 and Adams three-bet to 950,000 in the cutoff to rake in the pot. Adams made it 290,000 to go from the hijack and Tobias Ziegler called in the big blind. On a flop of {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Spades}, Ziegler checked and Adams bet 225,000 to scoop yet another pot.

More to Come, Tomorrow

Level 17 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

The organization has come back to the players and explained the situation. The live stream has been scheduled to start filming at noon, and the broadcast to start at 12:30 pm with hole cards, so the schedule can't be changed. The players have accepted the explanation and agreed to finish the current level and to then bag and tag.

Adams Walking Away With the Lead

Level 17 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

Timothy Adams raised to 290,000 from and was only called by Big Tony in mid-position.

The flop came {A-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} on which they both checked. The turn brought them the {7-Spades}, Adams bet 850,000 and Tony called.

The river completed the board with the {5-Diamonds}, Adams shoved, having Tony covered. Tony folded.

Play Discussions

Level 17 : 70,000/140,000, 140,000 ante

The floor came over to the table to ask them for their opinion. The organization had expected that the final six players would have been reached by now. As the tournament is scheduled to restart at noon local time tomorrow, they asked the players if they wanted to stop now to be fresh for when the stream starts again.

Some players wanted to stop, some wanted to continue, some wanted to finish the level and then stop. And some wanted to finish the level and then decide what to do. Another suggestion was to continue playing and to delay the restart tomorrow. The floor was going to bring their suggestion to the organization and then come back to them. More to come...

Becker Busts to Ziegler

Level 16 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Johannes Becker
Johannes Becker

At the very end of the level, Tobias Ziegler raised to 250,000 from early position and a short-stacked Johannes Becker moved all in for approximately 2.0 million out of the big blind. Ziegler took a few seconds only and called.

Johannes Becker: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Tobias Ziegler: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

Ziegler had one over card and both suits as live card to deal the final blow to Becker, and the {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop brought exactly that as Becker went from favorite to the massive underdog with just one out. The {8-Diamonds} turn didn't change anything yet, and the {8-Spades} river sent Becker to the rail in 9th place.
