Cowen Busts Ejlal Noubarian

Level 11 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Robert Cowen
Robert Cowen

Several players have been eliminated in quick succession and among them were Johnny Lodden, Andrej Desset and Majid Ejlal Noubarian. The latter got into a big pot with Robert Cowen and faced a bet of 1.7 million on the river of a board {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. Ejlal Noubarian called all in for slightly less and Cowen called instantly to turn over {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a full house, kings over eights.

Ejlal Noubarian mucked {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the nut flush and Cowen immediately apologized. "Sorry that this happened to you," the Welshman said. With a stack of nearly 6.0 million, Cowen is among the contenders for a top spot after Day 1d.

Bigger Stacks Emerge

Level 11 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

James Akenhead still appears to be the chip leader but Ondrej Drozd is slowly but surely catching up with some 6.1 million. Several other players are building stacks with 200 players remaining on Day 1d and among them is also Pavel Plesuv. The Moldovan just sdent an opponent to the rail with {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} versus {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} when the board came {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

Big Pot Without Showdown for Castelluccio

Level 11 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Just before the end of the previous level, Sergio Castelluccio raised to 90,000 in the cutoff and Michal Mrakes three-bet on the button to 225,000. The small blind four-bet to 650,000 and Castelluccio asked to see the stack sizes of both opponents before electing to call. Mrakes asked for the stack of Castelluccio, which was around 3.8 million at the start of the hand, and folded.

The {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop brought no betting action and Castelluccio bet 900,000 on the {8-Hearts} turn when the action checked to him. That was enough to shut down all further action and the Italian climbed up to five times the starting stack.

Ivgy Jams Up Stack

Level 10 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Pascal Hartmann raised to 80,000 and Kfir Ivgy three-bet to 150,000 from one seat over. Pierre Neuville called in the small blind and so did Hartmann. On the {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop, action checked to Ivgy and his shove for 570,000 went through without resistance. Ivgy flashed the {A-Hearts} and climbed back above the starting stack. Below are further assorted chip counts.

Kollmann Wins Flip to Double

Level 10 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

After a raise to 80,000 and a three-bet to 230,000 by Arsenii Karmatckii, a short-stacked Erich Kollmann four-bet all in for 375,000 out of the small blind. The initial raiser folded and Karmatckii called with the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. Kollmann had a flip with {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and the board came {9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

Oldrich Travnicek three-bet all in for 440,000 out of the small blind with the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, raketak on the button called with {8-Spades}{6-Spades}. The board came {K-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Travnicek dodged the flush draw to double.

One table over, Borge Sandsgaard was cut down to a mere 600,000 after paying off the aces for top set of an opponent.

Assorted Counts From Level 10

Level 10 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Jason Wheeler and Josef Snejberg are among the shorter stacks and share the same table along with Andrej Desset. The latter rtaised to 80,000 and Snejberg called out of the big blind. While the {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop brought no action, the {5-Hearts} turn was checked by Snejberg and Desset took down the pot with a delayed continuation bet of 115,000.

Last Break of the Night and Registration to Close Soon

Level 9 : 15,000/35,000, 35,000 ante

According to the screens there are 233 players out of 411 entries remaining and they have been sent into the last 15-minute break of the day. Players that wish to forfeit their shorter stack can do so before the cards go back in the air and re-enter with a fresh stack of one million. The registration for the event will close at the start of the next level.

Up and Down for Schulz

Level 9 : 15,000/35,000, 35,000 ante

"I was down to 300,000 and up to two million already," Robert Schulz said. Indeed the German had just doubled for 965,000 when his {A-Spades}{K-Spades} on the button got there to crack the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} of his opponent in the big blind. The board ran out {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{6-Spades} and the spades on turn and river saved the German.

Soon after Schulz had Michal Schuh at risk with {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} versus {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} on the {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop. The {10-Diamonds} turn and {Q-Clubs} river were both blanks and Schuh doubled for 430,000.

At almost the same time a few tables over, Renato Nomura sent an opponent to the rail with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} versus {A-Spades}{10-Spades} when the stacks went in after an ace-high flop.
