Nicholas Newport Doubles His Short Stack

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A pair of online qualifers Day 2 qualifiers, Con Collins and Nicholas Newport, both wound up getting short.

The duo just got all the chips in the middle when Collins jammed about 30,000 with {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Newport subsequently declared he was all in with {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs} before the {q-Spades} appeared on the turn to clinch the hand for Newport. Collins began to stand up as the {7-Hearts} completed the board on the river.

The dealer seemed amazed as he commented after the seven gave Collins trip sevens, "That was a bit of a dagger."

Then the dealer told Collins that he wasn't yet eliminated from the tournament as he just had Newport covered. Collins was left with less than half a big blind and subsequently officially eliminated a hand or two later.

Along with Dara O'Kearney, Newport is one of the bigger names remaining in the field. He has over $1.2 million in online cashes as tracked by PocketFives along with another over $600,000 in live cashes as tracked by The Hendon Mob.

Chop It Up

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Eoghan Byrne opened the action from the button for 9,000 and got a call from Pat Walsh in the small blind.

Paul Leckey in the big blind three-bet to 26,000. Byrne responded by moving all in and Walsh joined him.

Leckey asked for a count and decided to leave them to it so cards were on their backs.

It was seemingly a classic race as Byrne had {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} while Walsh had {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts} which got a little snort of surprise from Walsh as a straight on the board meant they chopped it up and heart rates could return to normal.

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Cards are back in the air and with 144 players remaining half the field has been lost already.

Oliver Patsy Among the Chip Leaders

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Oliver Patsy
Oliver Patsy

There was a monster pot just before the break.

Oliver Patsy limped from under the gun before the player hijack raised to 10,000. Harry Dukes called from the cutoff before the player in the big blind and Patsy peeled to the flop.

Patsy led out for 35,000 on the {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop. The player in the hijack folded before Dukes jammed all in for 160,000. The player in the big blind folded before Patsy, who had Dukes covered, called.

Dukes: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Patsy: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Dukes was holding top pair which was more or less in a race with Patsy's flush draw and open-ended straight draw. However, the hand was over on the next card when the {6-Diamonds} gave Patsy the nut flush and Dukes was drawing dead. The {6-Clubs} completed the board on the river and Patsy's stack grew to 360,000 while Dukes was down to 12,000.

Dara O'Kearney opened from late position for 10,000 and got one call from small blind Gavin Carroll.

The flop was {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and it was checked to O'Kearney who continued for 11,000.

Carroll called the bet and then they both checked the turn card {10-Hearts}. On the river {4-Diamonds} a last check from Carroll saw a bet of 15,000 from O'Kearney. A quick dwell up from Carroll before he paid him off.

O'Kearney showed him {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and that took the pot.

Nicholas "YerSoLucky" Newport Headlines the Feature Table

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Nicholas Newport
Nicholas Newport

The feature table has just begun on delay and you can check it out by heading to the Live Stream tab in our coverage.

Among the players at the table are Nicholas "YerSoLucky" Newport and Shean Lai. The big stack at the table is Lithuania's Audrius Dauguilavicius.

We caught up with Newport, who has more than $1.2 million in online cashes at the last break. He shared with PokerNews that he won two seats to the Main Event and sold one to his friend.

He also won a pair of seats to the €1,100 High Roller but doesn't plan to multi-table the two events. He doubled up his small stack right before break and if things go well for him, he may not play in the High Roller at all.

There is plenty of time to hop into the action at the High Roller with late registration not closing until the start of Day 2 tomorrow.
