Fatehi Shows No Deuce

Level 3 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Until the river of a board {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, a pot of 260,000 emerged in a battle hijack versus button. The two players in question were Jose Luis Calvo Rodriguez, who had checked, and Ali Reza Fatehi, who had bet 226,000. The businessman from Dubai, who can also be found in the Super High Roller tournaments regularly, started some table chat.

"Do you want to smoke?" Calvo Rodriguez nodded, but didn't make any decision just yet. "What do you have?" Fatehi asked with a smile and Calvo asked him the same. "Not a deuce," Fatehi grinned back. Eventually the clock was called on the Spaniard and his one minute ran down without any decision, the cards were dead. Fatehi double-checked his cards and flashed the {8-Hearts} before heading into the break. Fabrizio Gonzalez was watching the outcome of the hand before heading off, too.

Boianovsky Avoids Elimination

Level 3 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

After a raise to 30,000 by Teun Meulder, Stefan Schillhabel on the button and the small blind called. Felipe Darsa Boianovsky moved all in from the big blind for his last 223,000 and Meulder jammed over the top to isolate successfully.

Felipe Darsa Boianovsky: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Teun Meulder: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop gave the Brasilian bottom set and he locked up the double, making the {3-Diamonds} turn and {10-Spades} river a mere formality.

Jouhkimainen Joins 1d, Trickett in Trouble

Level 3 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Joni Jouhkimainen has been eliminated on Day 1c and immediately joined back on 1d, walking past the table of fellow partypoker representative Sam Trickett. The Brit was involved in a big pot on a river of a board {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Beka Iordanishvili moved all in for 580,000 with 560,000 in the middle.

Trickett had his opponent barely covered and took a long time before sending his cards into the muck.

Wysocki Takes from Yaroshevskyy

Level 3 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Szymon Wysocki
Szymon Wysocki

Igor Yaroshevskyy raised from early position and picked up a single caller in Szymon Wysocki from the big blind. On a flop of {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Wysocki checked and called a bet worth 30,000 before the {9-Spades} turn was checked through.

After the {8-Spades} river, a possible flush and straight got even more likely and Wysocki bet 168,000 into a pot of 128,000. Yaroshevskyy gave it some thought and called, then mucked when Wysocki turned over {A-Spades}{5-Spades} for the nuts. Wysocki only trails Kamila Jarosz in chips at his new table thus far.

The field size for Day 1d is growing rapidly, and as the next big blinds get moved to make space for new arrivals. Ali Reza Fatehi and Bart Lybaert started well into the day with a stack of 1.5 million, while Mihails Morozovs has dropped to around 750,000.

Chino Rheem was not even spotted in the field yet and has already been listed as the fifth casualty of the day.

Four Players Down the Drain; Shahar Doubles

Level 2 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Marius Pertea back in action

The third and fourth casualty of the day were Rainer Kempe and Claudio di Giacomo respectively. Ran Shahar avoided the same fate after he doubled through Joris Ruijs for his last 231,000.

Shahar was all in with {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} against the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} of the Dutchman, and the board ran out {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. After the hand, Shahar bumped fists with table neighbor Marius Pertea, who he still remembers from a tournament they played together in Bucharest.

Kavrakov Builds Stack

Level 2 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Atanas Kavrakov three-bet twice against the same player in a row, Felipe Boianovsky, and forced folds. Soon after the duo was involved in another hand and Georgios Karakousis made it three ways to the {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs} turn. Karakousis checked out of the big blind and Boianovsky did so from the cutoff. Kavrakov bet 115,000 into 225,000 and Karakousis was the only caller.

On the {5-Spades} river, both players checked and Karakousis showed {A-Clubs}{3-Spades} for the busted nut flush draw. Kavrakov had that beat with {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the straight and boosted his stack.
