Get to Know BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pro Daniel Buzgon

Dan Buzgon
Dan Buzgon

You might recall that In early 2019, Daniel "leinad" Buzgon signed on as a BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pro – one of three alongside Michael “Gags” Gagliano and Katie Stone.

“It took a little bit of time to get all the paperwork and stuff like that,” Buzgon previously told PokerNews of becoming sponsored. “It was in December when it started but wasn’t official until just before the Borgata Winter series. Duties include mainly playing a lot online, promoting the site, and trying to get new players on the site.”

According to HendonMob, Buzgon has more than $2.3 million in lifetime live tournament earnings since 2007. He’s a four-time World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner has played for big money before. In 2001, he finished third in the WPT Borgata Poker Open for $335,433, and last year he finished fifth in the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event for $202,942. He also finished fourth in the 2012 WPT bestbet Jacksonville for $94,624.

Additionally, Buzgon is a beast online where he’s amassed more than $3.1 million in earnings, of which $435,457 has come on BorgataPoker.com where he plays under the screen name “leinad.”

"FrankyFunk" Coolers Forlenza

In Level 28 with blinds at 20,000/40,000 (5,000 ante), a series of raises saw John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza get his 1,000,000 stack in the middle preflop from early position and was called by "FrankyFunk" from the button.

"FrankyFunk": {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Forlenza woke up with kings at the wrong time and the {q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} runout ended his tournament in 50th Place for $386.64.

Get to Know BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pro Katie Stone

Katie Stone
Katie Stone

BorgataPoker.com has a trio of Sponsored Pros, and one of them is Katie Stone.

Stone has more than $176K in lifetime live tournament earnings including a career-bet $33,305 for finishing 378th in the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event. In addition, Stone has three Borgata Open titles including the 2018 Borgata Fall Poker Open $300 Deepest Stack for $19,337, 2017 Borgata Summer Poker Open $300 Ladies Event for $2,867, and 2017 Borgata Fall Poker Open $300 Deepstack for $9,484. She also recently won the CSOP Borgata Winter Poker Open Event back in January.

However, where Stone has really thrived is online where she’s amassed more than $900K in lifetime earnings. Of that, $146,954 has come on BorgataPoker.com where she plays under the screen name “KatieStone.”

According to a Q&A she did with the Borgata Blog, Stone was born and raised in New Jersey, but after Black Friday in 2011, she relocated to Rosarito, Mexico in order to continue playing online. When New Jersey authorized Atlantic City casinos to offer online gaming within state borders, Stone moved back north to New Jersey and picked up where she left off — winning!

Recently, Stone took the initiative to create the Discord channel “Poker Peeps Affected By COVID19” and invited those in casino industry affected by recent shutdowns to join.

“I realized how tough it was going to be for everyone to keep up with everything and everyone, with so much changing so fast,” Stone recently told PokerNews. “So, I messaged my friend Cy Watson, who has been very active on social media as well regarding Coronavirus, asking him if he thought it would be a good idea to start a chat for people in the industry to be able to connect with each other for help.”

She continued: “I think the main thing poker players and everyone can do is to keep an open mind. Understanding that this is unlike any situation any of us have encountered before, and so thinking outside the box can go a long way. Taking the time to improve a skill, or learn a new skill whether it's a game or something else could be really beneficial not just financially, but mentally.”

"dime8644" Bubbles With Cowboys

In Level 26 with blinds at 16,000/32,000 (4,000 ante), action on the table folded around to "dime8644" who raised all in for 95,467 from the button and was called by "thekid32" from the big blind.

"thekid32": {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
"dime8644": {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

"dime8644" was ahead with their pocket kings but the [5sc310c] flop gave them a sweat as it gave "thekid32" the wheel draw.

A two didn't appear on the turn but the {a-Spades} did, leaving "dime8644" drawing to a king. "dime8644" was keeping their hopes alive but he {8-Spades} appeared on the river ending their tournament on the money bubble.

"kingtaut" Eliminated by "FRIELnGood"

In Level 25 with blinds at 14,000/28,000 (3,500 ante), "kingtaut" was all in preflop for 87,255 from the button and was called by "FRIELnGood" from the hijack.

"kingtaut": {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}
"FRIELnGood":{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

"kingtaut" was dominated and the {3-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} didn't change a thing.

The {9-Spades} turn made things interesting as it gave both players a gutshot straight draw but the river fell the {2-Hearts} ending "kingtaut's" tournament.
