Day 1 Completed
Yong "IReadYrSoul" Kwon has claimed the most recent title of the partypoker US Network Online Series, topping a field of 86 players in the $109 R+A Event #5: $15,000 GTD.
The tournament nearly met its guaranteed prize pool in players alone, adding another 84 rebuys and 53 add-ons to the tally over its two-and-a-half-hour rebuy and late-registration period.
When the prize pool closed, $22,300 was set to be distributed over the top 14 places and two hours went by before play reached the money.
Katie "KatieStone" Stone and Kwon began a series of eliminations and within the blink of an eye that brought about the bubble, which burst when Ross “thehebrewhammer” Gottleib knocked out "acedoctor" with pocket fives to ace-three suited.
One hour later, "pay4medsch00l" eliminated Jon “Jetsfan411” Borenstein in ninth place. Kwon entered the final table with the chip lead with "pay4medsch00l" next in the counts.
One by one, the field was cut in half until four remained. Three full levels then went by before Stone knocked out "pay4medsch00l" with ace-king to ace-four suited, while Kwon eliminated Daniel "centrfielder23" Lupo on the following hand after picking up ace-eight and holding to Lupo's king-ten suited.
Stone held a 2:1 chip advantage once the heads-up match began but the battle only lasted only a couple of minutes after Kwon won a huge flip with pocket eights leaving Stone with crumbs which was gone the very next hand.
