Get to Know BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pro Katie Stone

Katie Stone
Katie Stone

BorgataPoker.com has a trio of Sponsored Pros, and one of them is Katie Stone.

Stone has more than $176K in lifetime live tournament earnings including a career-bet $33,305 for finishing 378th in the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event. In addition, Stone has three Borgata Open titles including the 2018 Borgata Fall Poker Open $300 Deepest Stack for $19,337, 2017 Borgata Summer Poker Open $300 Ladies Event for $2,867, and 2017 Borgata Fall Poker Open $300 Deepstack for $9,484. She also recently won the CSOP Borgata Winter Poker Open Event back in January.

However, where Stone has really thrived is online where she’s amassed more than $900K in lifetime earnings. Of that, $146,954 has come on BorgataPoker.com where she plays under the screen name “KatieStone.”

According to a Q&A she did with the Borgata Blog, Stone was born and raised in New Jersey, but after Black Friday in 2011, she relocated to Rosarito, Mexico in order to continue playing online. When New Jersey authorized Atlantic City casinos to offer online gaming within state borders, Stone moved back north to New Jersey and picked up where she left off — winning!

Recently, Stone took the initiative to create the Discord channel “Poker Peeps Affected By COVID19” and invited those in casino industry affected by recent shutdowns to join.

“I realized how tough it was going to be for everyone to keep up with everything and everyone, with so much changing so fast,” Stone recently told PokerNews. “So, I messaged my friend Cy Watson, who has been very active on social media as well regarding Coronavirus, asking him if he thought it would be a good idea to start a chat for people in the industry to be able to connect with each other for help.”

She continued: “I think the main thing poker players and everyone can do is to keep an open mind. Understanding that this is unlike any situation any of us have encountered before, and so thinking outside the box can go a long way. Taking the time to improve a skill, or learn a new skill whether it's a game or something else could be really beneficial not just financially, but mentally.”

Chip Update

Play is in Level 6 with blinds of 500/1,000 and an ante of 125 and the number of entries has climbed to 38. Twenty-four players remain across four full tables, with "Pokerstudd09" still atop the counts. Here's a look at the first page of the leader board as well as those who have busted and not re-entered as of yet.

"ELITEMALESSO" Calls Correctly

In Level 5 with blinds of 400/800 and an ante of 100, there was 10,200 in the middle on a flop reading {3-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} with heads-up action between "pay4medsch00l" in the big blind and "ELITEMALESSO", who was in the cutoff.

"pay4medsch00l" made a pot-sized bet and "ELITEMALESSO" called, leaving themselves with just 107 more than a newly-sized pot of 30,600. The turn came {q-Spades} and "pay4medschool" thought for a while before checking. "ELITEMALESSO" checked behind and the river came {4-Diamonds}. "pay4medschool" fired out a pot-sized bet and "ELITEMALESSO" called to risk all but the last 107 in their stack.

"pay4medschool" showed {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of aces, which was bested by "ELITEMALESSO" as they showed {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for a turned king-high straight to earn the pot of 91,800 and effectively double in the process.

"E.J.D" Claims a Bounty

In Level 4 with blinds of 300/600 and an ante of 75, preflop action saw 7,800 go into the middle in a heads-up pot between "E.J.D" in the big blind and "StellaParks", who was on the button. A bet and several raises on the flop {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades} resulted in "StellaParks" committing their remaining 35,000 and receiving a call.

"StellaParks": {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
"E.J.D.": {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

"StellaParks" saw their top pair, top kicker with a gutshot straight draw run into a set of sevens. The turn {k-Spades} gave them four more outs at a newly-found double gutter, but the river instead came {10-Diamonds} to give "E.J.D" a full house and send "StellaParks" to re-enter.

David "TheKing411" Coleman Talks About Big partypoker US Network WPT Online Poker Open Win

At the beginning of July, the partypoker US Network in New Jersey reached a sizzling conclusion when the WPT Online Poker Open, which combined fields from partypoker US, Borgata Poker and BetMGM Poker crowned a winner. The Main Event drew a field of 868 entries, generating a lofty $317,540 prize pool which surpassed its $300k guarantee. It marked the largest ever event for the New Jersey online poker network surpassing the $302,100 prize pool for the $320 buy-in partypoker US Network $250K GTD back on March 29.

In the end, it was David "TheKing411" Coleman who emerged victorious for a payday of $56,586. In addition to the first-place prize, he also earned a WPT Championship Trophy and an $11,000 prize package which includes entry into the next WPT in-person live event, the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, which will take place at Bellagio in Las Vegas ($10,400 buy-in), as well as $600 in cash towards travel expenses.

David Coleman spoke to PokerNews about the win.

In Level 2 with blinds of 200/400 and an ante of 50, action was three handed on a board of {6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} with 7,500 in the middle. "DaNuts2013" was first to act under the gun and made a pot-sized bet. "DeLaSmokeYa1" folded the hijack to put action onto Chris “rumpthumper” White, who was on the button and called.

With action heads up, the river came {4-Clubs}. "DaNuts2013" bet again, this time for a down-sized amount of 4,400. White called.

"DaNuts2013" showed {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for the nut flush, and White mucked to result in the pot of over 31,000 sent to "DaNuts2013".
