Alberto Holds Against Gordon

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
George Alberto
George Alberto

George Alberto was second to act and had an overbet of 17,000 in front of him with about 13,000 in the pot and {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} on the felt. Arnaldo Gordon opted to shove for about 70,000 from under the gun and Alberto was in there with a quick call, tabling {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Gordon had {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a straight draw, one he'd hit on the {8-Spades} river. Unfortunately for him, the card preceding that was the {5-Hearts}, so Alberto made a full house.

Ippolito Doubles

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

On a flop of {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, Peter Ippolito got into a raising war with a foe, resulting in both players all in for around 33,000 in the 7,000 or so pot. Ippolito was happy to get his chips in with {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for the current nuts, but he was fading some outs as his opponent had {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. The {q-Spades} turn and {8-Hearts} river weren't enough improvement, and Ippolito narrowly got a full double as he had his opponent covered by about 500.

Ramdin Gets a Bit of Value

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Victor Ramdin bet 5,000 from under the gun on a completed board of {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}{j-Spades}{3-Hearts} and his opponent groaned.

"Just enough," he said with a sigh, flicking in a chip.

Ramdin showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and his pair was good.

Alberto Comes to Life

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a board of {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, George Alberto checked from the big blind and called 5,000 from John Almanzar in the cutoff. The river was a {7-Clubs} and Albert came to life with an all-in shove. It was for about 43,000 effective but Almanzar didn't need more than five seconds to muck.

Brobyn Sliding

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Robert Brobyn, who had the chip lead, was paying out a double when we arrived to Table 40. It looked like he'd gotten his stack in with {j-Spades}{10-Spades} on an eight-high flop containing two spades against his neighbor in the small blind, who had pocket queens. Brobyn paid out 28,500.

Moments later, Brobyn battled with that same player, this time hijack versus cutoff. The board read {7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Brobyn checked. With about 23,000 in the pot, the cutoff bet 16,000 and Brobyn folded with a sigh.

"Should have just shoved it in," he said. "I almost did. You didn't have a flush. No way you had a flush."
