Valerstein Gets Paid

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

In a battle of blinds, Roman Valerstein bet 260,000 on the river with {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} on the felt. Rafael Yaraliyev tanked awhile and called but couldn't beat {a-Spades}{q-Spades}.

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Josias Santos
Josias Santos

We heard a commotion coming from Table 10, and moved over in time to see the results of an all-in hand between Josias Santos and AJ Jamil. It's not know when the money went in, but Santos had {9-}{9-} for a set on {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, Jamil had backed into the nut flush with {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and he collected the 800,000 or so Santos had left.

Joe Palma
Joe Palma

Joe Palma raised to 80,000 in middle position, Rafal Kordys called in the small blind and Grigoriy Shvarts woke up with 305,000 in the big. Palma shoved, Kordys folded and Shvarts snap-called with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

Palma winced and showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. The {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board gave Palma top pair but it wasn't enough.

Hal Rotholz opened under the gun to 60,000, Rafael Yaraliyev called on the button and Shaotong Chang jammed 180,000 in the big blind. Rotholz clicked back to chase Yaraliyev off and tabled {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Chang had {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and looked to be securing yet another double after the {j-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{k-Hearts} flop. However, a {9-Diamonds} turn sealed her elimination.

Ippolito Doubles Through Rotholz

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Peter Ippolito shoved from middle position for 295,000 and Hal Rotholz called on the button with {a-Spades}{6-Spades}. Ippolito had it for the moment with {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop had Rotholz calling for an eight but those outs disappeared on the {9-Spades} turn. Now, he asked for a ten, but the river was a {2-Hearts}.

Kordys Pays Shvarts

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Grigoriy Shvarts opened under the gun for 65,000 and got three callers. Everyone checked the flop, leading to a board of {7-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Rafal Kordys bet 125,000 from the big blind and Shvarts called, while everyone else folded. The river was a {5-Spades} and Kordys checked. Shvarts bet 175,000 and Kordys thought briefly and called, though he didn't look thrilled about it.

Shvarts showed {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for a set.

Trips No Good for Whitnah

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

David Whitnah was in the big blind and bet 110,000 on {4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. AJ Jamil popped it up to 350,000 in the cutoff, and Whitnah thought about a minute before slapping in some chips to call.

Jamil showed {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for a flopped set and Whitnah mucked {k-Spades}{9-Spades} face up.

"That's no good," he said. "That's no good at all."
