Edwin Lau Eliminated in 14th Place ($5,843)

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Three players checked to Edwin Lau on {9-Spades}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and he shoved for 140,000. One player folded, Grigoriy Shvarts called in the hijack and the last player mucked.

Edwin Lau: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Grigoriy Shvarts: {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The {4-Clubs} was no help to Shvarts but the {q-Hearts} river gave him the superior pair for the knockout.

Chang Doubles Through Parkes

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Shaotong Chang shoved for 300,000 in middle position and Thomas Parkes put her at risk with {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} in the small blind. Chang was trailing with {k-Spades}{10-Spades} but the {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop helped her. The {q-Spades} and {7-Hearts} did nothing to stop her from collecting another double.

Valerstein Doubles Through Ippolito

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Roman Valerstein got his stack of 320,000 in from the button with {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} against the {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} of big blind Peter Ippolito. The {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} board brought nothing to trouble Valerstein and he doubled up.

Steve McCullough Eliminated in 15th Place ($5,843)

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Steve McCullough got his remaining chips, about 200,000, in with {k-Spades}{10-Spades} in the cutoff and was against the {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} of neighbor Hal Rotholz. The board ran {3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, no help to McCullough.

Round 4 to Valerstein

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Roman Valerstein shoved from the cutoff for about 225,000 with {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and was at risk against big blind Shaotong Chang and her {5-}{5-}. Just like the other three times, the shorter stack prevailed, but this time it was Valerstein as he paired his ten on the flop.

Marilyn Matthews

According to Joe Palma, he opened and then called a shove from Marilyn Matthews, worth about 200,000. She was slightly ahead with {a-}{q-} against {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and furthered her advantage by flopping a queen. However, Palma turned a king and rivered a flush to bust her.

Chang Doubles Through Valerstein Again...Take 3

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Shaotong Chang shoved for 300,000 second to act and Roman Valerstein slid in 500,000 in the small blind. The big blind mucked and left the two rivals squaring off again. This time, Chang had a very slight edge with {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} against {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. The {3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} was good for her but the {10-Diamonds} turn meant Valerstein picked up more outs with a flush draw. A {4-Spades} was a total brick on the river and Valerstein dropped to 0-for-3 trying to bust Chang.
