Updated Chip Counts from the Other Half of the Room

Updated Chip Counts from Half the Room

"Why Did They Create Aces in this Game?"

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Steven Snyder
Steven Snyder

A preflop raising war resulted in a player getting his stack of approximately 25,000 all in and at risk against Steven Snyder, who was sitting with a big pile of chips.

Steven Snyder: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

The {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts} flop kept the aces firmly in the lead, but the running {q-Spades} turn and {10-Diamonds} river was a disaster for the at-risk player as Snyder made a runner-runner straight to steal the pot.

"Why did they create aces in this game?" the eliminated player asked rhetorically before heading for the exit.

Off to the Races

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Derek Marmen
Derek Marmen

The preflop action escaped us but we do know that Neal Gay and Derek Marmen, who had 42,600, got their stacks in the middle and were in a big flip.

Derek Marmen: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Neal Gay: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

An ace on the window looked like a gin card for Gay but it was followed by a third fishhook - {j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

Neither the {4-Spades} turn nor {6-Hearts} river changed a thing and the stacks were counted down. Marmen barely had Gay covered, and the latter headed to the registration desk to fire another bullet.

Marder Takes From Rasmussen

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Geoff Rasmussen raised to 2,000 under the gun and Michael Marder called from the button. The player in the big blind called and it was three-way action to the flop, which came down {10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Spades}.

The triumvirate checked and the dealer burned and turned the {q-Diamonds}. The player in the big blind checked, Rasmussen bet 4,500, and only Marder called to see the {q-Hearts} turn.

Both players returned to checking and Rasmussen showed the {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a missed flush draw on the turn. Marder then rolled over the {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for two pair (and the better flush draw).

Giovanniello Gets Value and Sends Shorty to the Rail

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Dominick Giovanniello
Dominick Giovanniello

A player in early position raised to 2,000 and Dominick Giovanniello called from the button. The player in the big blind then called off for his last 1,600 and there was a side pot headed to the {j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop.

The original raiser continued for 1,500 and then called when Giovanniello raised to 4,000. On the {k-Clubs} turn, the early-position player check-called a bet of 7,000 and then checked again on the {5-Diamonds} river.

Giovanniello tossed out a bet of 7,000 and his opponent thought for a bit before making the call. Giovanniello rolled over the {2-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a full house and it was good as both his opponents sent their cards to the muck unseen.

"You Are Stubborn"

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Lyle Diamond
Lyle Diamond

In one of the last hands of Level 7, Lyle Diamond opened for 2,000 from early position and action folded around to the player in the big blind who defended and said, "I'm stubborn."

The dealer then put out a {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop and the big blind checked. Diamond quickly tossed out three of T1,000 chips and the big blind sort of shrugged before making the call.

On the {5-Spades} turn, the big blind check-called another bet, this time 6,000, before checking a third time on the {3-Diamonds} river.

Diamond opted to slow down with a check behind and showed the {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, which bested the {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} of his opponent.

"You are stubborn," Diamond conceded.
